John Friedlander and is firm The Practical Psychic Institute is starting
a series of weekend classes for psychic development.
These classes are over several weekends and deal with:
Personal Mediation and Healing
Deepening Awareness and Skills
Putting it all Together.
The first class will start Feb. 19 & 20. "This practical weekend gets you
in touch with your deep self. From 'the God of your heart' you'll learn how
to communicate with 'the God of other people's hearts.' This ability will
substantially increase your interpersonal communication effectiveness
and truely move you into more authenticity with friends, family and
acquantences.
On Friday, Feb.18th, John will channel Seth from 7:30-9:30 pm.
For more information, call Julia King at 769-6346 or Donna Ryen at
761-8821. (The Seth channeling is open to non-seminar participants for a
$10 donation.)

This sounds gerat (great), too bad I'll be out of town :(
That sounds a bit revisionist. What's behind it, and what are the
methods used?
I'm awfully suspicious of such "quick fixes" and "power in ten easy lessons" schemes that purport to replace a life time of study and commitment.
Power in ten easy lessons. Each lesson is to be precisely 100 years in
length. Classes begin now. If you don't know where the classes are being
held, then you don't have the prerequisites.
OK...I've been avoiding this area cause I didn't want to really stir up trouble, but...just what the hell is Seth channeling, and don't you think this Seth guy is gonna get annoyed by th whole deal. Or is he getting part of the $$$.:) I agree Kami and John, this is preciely the weekender attitude that I think is irreverant, badly. It seems to lend itself to giving people what they are looking for. Lot's of sparkly auras. But...I'm really not trying to be an ass, especially not to Patricia. No offence please...too late. -phaedrus
Kami, You can make your life as hard as you want. The point is, it can be easy. You are the one who makes it hard on yourself. Phaedrus, the tools can be taught very quickly and easily. It takes a while to master them tho. Why do you say it's irreverant? We're not talking about any dieties. We're talking about learning to be psychic.
learning to be psychic? how do you un-learn it when you get sick of the shit it brings your way?!
Why then you take the weekend unlearning class silly. 8^}
ohoh, right. I guess they didn't offer that the year after I took the prereq, just like chemistry and advanced bio. ;<}
Exactly.
I can't believe you folks. I thought this forum was supposed to be the place where people could talk about ideas, etc without ridicule. My mistake! I would like to suggest that those who have no interest in channeling, learning to increase their psychic abilities stay out of this thread. I certainly do not go into the magic threads and make biting comments or stupid jokes. I think I have the right to ask for some civility. Perhaps Chris would like to comment? He's the fw.
I want to apologise. After being the first one to say that I was interested in going- but couldn't to as peagasus put it ridiculing the item. And actually, I am interested in learning how to be more psychic, am I allowed to blame some of my earlier remarks on an evil twin? :}
I don't think increasing psychic abilities is the right word for it. Maybe 'learning to channel' mental energies would work
oops, sorry. Didn't mean to offend-- a lot of trigger words tied up in the original posting. I've met too many unscrupulous and power-hungry types who want to gain prestige by offering "shortcuts", and too many who want to gain stature by claiming to be "psychic" (who isn't?) or powerful and mostly wanting to scare people. The comments about not being able to find the off-switch were from bitter experience. Self referential humour is a good relief valve. Again, sorry to be denigrating. Perhaps if you were to share some of your interests and experience with the rest of us, pegasus, or tell us more about this teacher and others, we will all learn something. OK? Cheers! Kami
Remember pegasus, Chris ain't the only fw, and he doesn't sign on nearly as often as I do... I've just scanned through the entire item, and I have to agree, people have been unnecessarily harsh. Goddess knows I don't go for the "quick fix" style of psychic development - four years now, and I still can't balance my checkbook >8) - but I did exactly what pegasus suggested. I stayed out of the item. Folks, I've swallowed a lot of bile over the years, when people have told me about "Atlantean Power Rods" that could destroy matter (yeah, right, and Atlantean power monkeys might fly out of my butt), "evil wizards" who have been hurling curses at each other, and so on. It took a lot of restraint not to whop these people upside the head, but somehow I managed. Why? Because there are too damn many people out there who think we're ALL weirdoes who should be locked up, and in that respect at least, we should band together, IMHO. If you have a problem with what Pattie's saying, there are polite ways of saying it. "I don't believe in channelling, personally," works a hell of a lot better than "New age sucks, huh huh, huh huh huh." Now, if people want to try acting civilly, go ahead. Otherwise, please stay out of this item.
Kami's response slipped in.
OK...Rob, (Dad), I apoligise Patricia. I also knee-jerked on this one. I too have watched to many people "play" and am tired of it. I do agree that there are mental excersizes to help the mind become more aware of psychic events. But this really sounded like a magical pill for psychic improvement. I too have been working a while at this, and still am not even ready to begin! So...what *is* Seth channeling? -phaedrus
Phaedrus, et all... Apologies accepted. Thank you for the grace to do that. OK, Seth is one of a smallish number of well-known entities that people have channeled. Most of the reason they're well known is that the channelers have put the stuff into books. Jane Roberts is the main Seth resource, tho she died in the late 70s, I believe. Others include Michael (that's all I can come up with now) and indeed, whole "cults" have sprung up around the channelers. This, in my view, is bad. I discourage anyone into deifying any entity, no matter how advanced. ^FROM Now, as fro the class itself, we dealt with the chakras: learning where they were, cleaning them, removing chords from them, and then tuning into our higher selves and talking to the higher selves of others. The next class in the series is supposed to show you how to read auras and do more healing work, and start practicing these abilities to where you can start predicting or detailing stuff you really have now way of knowing. For example, at the class I attended, one of the last excercises had us tuning into another person, and I was able to describe to her what she saw looking outside her house. (and, no. I didn't know her before the class, and don't associate with her now.) So, my belief is that the class was useful, and that I'll take the second set sometime in the future, and hopefully the 3rd set as well.
gee, that's pretty solid material, if not exactly "for beginners" in my estimation. Pity there were so many trigger words for erroneous assumptions in the first-impression/presentation. I'd still worry about follow-up and the after effects of this class: difficulty processing new perceptions or turning them off, misinterpretation, confusion or concerns about one's sanity from the change in boundaries, etc. Some folks can get carried away.
Kami, I think no matter how much care is taken, there is a certain burn that happens it happened to me. You're right, it's new boudaries, but I wonder if that isn't part of the process. Though when it happened to me I had support from others. -phaedrus
exactly. If such a class is your first experience or you are afraid to talk about it, you can make matters worse by isolating yourself and quietly wig out. Not good. Then there is a friend of mine who seems to be afraid of most intense magical/psychic experiences even though she's quite talented, and is too afraid of getting lynched or subjected to badly skewed "vibes" to put herself where she can meet folks with similar experiences. Sigh.
