A friend of mine recently confessed to me of having severely distressing problems while astrally projecting himself into the regions of Mexico, central africa, and the Philipines. One such incident resulted in the appearance of a strange scar on his leg which he to this day cannot explain. I'm wondering if anyone else has had similar experiences?

One of my friends in Winona said that the astral equivlant was larger than it was suppossed to be, even though astral projections of areas are meant to be bigger . . .
Pollution. Literally and figuratively.
Well since I generally think that friend is full of B.S. far more often than thinking he knows what he's talking about . . .
I am somewhat inclined to agree. (Sorry Sam, but it's true; you're not known to be the most reliable source of information out there.)
I'm curious as to why your friend was wandering about those particular locations. They all have somewhat, ah, challenging native cultures. Does he have a rapport with any of the gods or spirits of those cultures, or a guide/protector of his own who suggested this jaunt or at least indicated a willingness to go along? Certainly, the astral form is part of a person's totality such that what happens to it happens to the whole. I've heard it said that, if you "die" while in your astral form, that your physical form may die, go into a coma and waste away, or become essentially a zombie- without spark of energy or driving passion, just going through the motions. So it's not unlikely that an accident to his astral form might produce "stigmata" on his physical form.
For the better part of a decade I was involved with WindFire Coven in
the Colorado Springs area in the official capacity of High Priest and Elder.
Most all of the 'organizied' covens have a 'black book' that is essencially
the 'operations manual' for the coven proper. These Twilight Tomes can be
as simple as a record of coven activities and meeting, to complex works that
attempt to define the morals and ethics dicated and followed by the group.
Ever since 'Anonymus' (Ed Finch) published his book of ritual, ''The
Book of Pagan Ritual', more and more coven have adopted a longer and more
encompassing set of ethicial considerations, most of them not based on the
classical; 'Do as you will, as it Harm None', 'The Law of Threes', and
'Re-incarnation'. To these have now been added the eight dynamics of Zen
Buddism, as was the case upon the founding of WindFire.
In the fifth year of the coven it was also necessary to adopt several
other 'minor laws', including the 'Rite of Quest' and appointment of temporary
Elders that a tribunal may be established to investigate and infringement of
the laws of the coven.
Re #6 ... oops! The above text was actually suppose to end up in #119. Dang! I hate it when this happens ... guess I'll go type it again over there. (Boy, am I ever embarrassed!)
Don't go away, though. Ethics has been one of the things we've wanted to discuss, although I guess it's in 119. Anyway it will be good to see what "minor laws" your coven had.
re #5: I think he went alone, as to why, who can say? I'll have to ask him and see if he gives me a straight answer.
There are some very intense things going on (have gone on) in the Mexico and South America. I once 'sent' myself there and wound up watching spirits cleanse 'another planet'. (It was cool...green rain that brought the bare beginings of life) I go there to cleanse things in general...and many of my friends have connections with the Mayans and Aztecs. Though a warning: it can be dangerous to work with the powers from there. (Especially over "mexico city" if you are european in decent...in experiance from some friends and family, bad juju if not handled delacately) This is dificult for me to explain. It will take more thought, so please lable this INTRO. (It's not even Chap. 1)
Uh oh, they got her!
Who got her?
I know that travelling while in a dream state (I don't know if this is the same thing) can leave you with scars if you are hurt in the dream. I could label this under psychology and say that it's self-inflicted, but lesser things have happened to me. Example - hurting my leg in the dream and waking up with a sore leg. Of course, my reasoning for this is that my leg was sore and it transposed in the dream instead of vice versa. =) Does your friend remember being cut by anything on these "trips"?
It is possible to convince yourself that you're sick or injured and
create convincing physical symptoms. But dream-states often incorporate
reality as it's going on around you - at least mine do - and I'd find it
easier to believe I'd hurt my leg during the night and incorporated it into
the dream than that it was psychosomatic in origin.
