(does anyone have any good suggestions for playing croquet? what sort of turf shoud be used? about how large should the field be? is there a particular brand name associated with good croquet equipment? is croquet still a recreational sport, or has it graduated to the amateur/profess- ional/organized level? does anyone still play croquet? am I spelling it correctly?)

Sorry. I don't think ANYONE plays croquet anymore. And, yes, you are spelling it correctly.
Sure, some of us play, on rare occasions. I can't recall seeing croquet "sets" in stores; I have the set our dad bought when we were kids...
we play croquet every year at family gatherings...as far as i know, you use whatever space you have, and i think it is mostly played on the grass..i like it...um..they play it in the mopvie heathers if ya wanna see live action...
