From football in egypt to football in America...specifically: The Super Bowl! This year it is between the Green Bay Packers, frm Green Bay Wisconsin, and the New England Patriots, from Boston, Mass. I am split on this one. I have family ties i Boston but I have friends in Wisconsin who bleed Packer-green. I wouldnt mind if either of them won. The Packers seem to be the better team, but I think the AFC is due...New England also has a Super Bowl winning coach who knows what it takes. PREDICTON: Ne England 31 Green Bay 27

Nah, the Packers are going to blow new england away.
In your dreams, Richard. Try Green Bay 200, Patriots 0. Ok maybe not that much of a blowout, but there isn't going to be any contest to it. Packers by at least 20. The Patriots are going to lose SO BIG that Bill Parcells won't get his job back with the Giants.
I am inclined to believe that the Packers are the better team. Conventional wisdom is closer to omni's prediction than Richard's. I.e. that the Pack will blow NE away. I think the spread is mutliple touchdowns. HOWEVER I am going to go way out on a limb and agree with Richard. The Packer's fans have no respect for NE, and if the Packers themselves are like that, they'll be surprised. If I were a better, and I could get the points that the bookies are offering on this game, I would certainly take NE. To pick them to actually win is a bit daring, but I am going to fall in with Richard and do just that. Go pats!
TheGiants justhired a new coach. Parcells might coach the Jets..which isnt much difference since they playin the same stadium....if I were him I'd stay in New England.
It just goes to show you how much credenace I place on football. (I don't)
It's an interesting situation for Parcells. He doesn't get along with the ownership in Boston, so he's definitely going to move. If you remember, the Patriots were one of the worst teams in the NFL, year after year, until Parcells was hired. So now that he has brought them to the super bowl, he moves on, and guess where he goes, to one of the pernnially worst teams in the NFL again. The Jets. He will have his work cut out for him with that team. They really stink. However, he is probably one of the few I would give a chance of succeeding to. I will also probably become a Jets fan. I really like Bill Parcells.

And the winner is.... Green Bay by 35 to 21. Richard and I get to eat crow. Those who bet on Green Bay and gave up 13 1/2 won their bets. The line went to 14, and if you got your money on Green Bay at 14, you didn't win anything. Of course no one here would actually bet except where it was legal. So it appears that the conventional wisdom (i.e. the line) at 14 points was about as close as you can get. I don't know who they named player of the game. I rather imagine it was Favre. He was good, true, but the game was broken open by Desmond Howard. While that isn't usually enough to get the player of the game award on its own, he also rewrote all the super bowl records for runbacks. I would have voted for him, if had had a vote. If I had to be wrong about this game, at least one of my favorite Michigan Football Alumni, Desmond Howard, had a career day.
Howard was named MVP.
Cool. I don't have to get all upset at them.
