Grex Sports Item 46: Roller Hockey
Entered by bubu on Tue Jun 25 17:02:23 UTC 1996:

I am looking for people who play roller hockey....I have just recently made
the switch from ice hockey and I play about once a week now....I would like
to get a bunch of people together once a week in a neutral site if
possible....Sorry but I am not really looking for younger people ie. teens...
I am in my late 20's as are some of the people I play with, play can get
rough...

Anyway this item can be for responding to this inquiry or for talk about
roller hockey...

Every time i drive past the parking lot of Elbel Field off Hoover between Hill
and the tracks, I see a lot of roller hockey going on. Mostly people in their
twenties and mostly pretty good players.

Yeah..we (my bro', I, and friends) play out at Elbel Field about once every
week or two. We even made our own regulation size nets outta PVC pipe..
they work great and it's a lot cheaper than buying the exact same thing
for like $30 (or more) and better than using those stupid recycling bins.
People usually just start forming there..we go on Sunday mornings when no
one is there, that way no one can join in :) People usually don't come
until mid afternoon. But if you see us, don't bother joining..we're all just
in our late teenage years..hehe..

Little tip on buying Roller Blades....I have done some extensive research on
such items....If you are a begginer it is better to buy a top of the line
pair...witha price tag of $100 - $150 range...These pairs have a jointed ankle
area that gives you some flexibility in the ankle .ie front to back..not side
to side...for hockey I really recommend a pair of lace up boots...These allow
you to adjust for comfort by tightening or lossening the laces in the most
comfortable way for yourself....
