I enjoy watching both on tv....I used to watch bowling alot when i was a
kid...i think because i bowled alot...it is kind of like a kid who plays alot
of baseball or football....they watch the sport on tv....

Bowling is an exciting sport. It can also be incredibly dull as well.

I worked for 10 yrs in the bowling industry; I done everything from changing
pins in pinsetters, to being a pinchaser, and maintaining lanes. When there
is a good match, it's as good as basketball or hockey in terms of the
suspense.

Well, Julie, if you want to see those at the top of their sports (pro's)
perform with excellence, and you haven't bought a video or been able to
attend the events in person, TV is the only option. (I suppose you
*could* listen in on radio, if they even broadcast such sports on radio.
Then I'd have to wonder about *you*! :-)

heh do they broadcast golf and bowling on the radio? heh...that would be a
trip...i guess i can see watching it if you want to improve, it just isnt very
competitive or action packed...and how much can they say about the beautiful
clubhouse or the merits of the groundskeepers?

Yeah, and on the other hand, hockey on the radio may sound crazy, but I've
listened to it when TV is not available, and been thankful for it.

Watching bowling taught me several things, and I've actually taped a few
matches so I could learn about the competitive edge, and how to psych my
opponents out. It has worked because I once was a pitiful 130 average bowler,
and since taeching myself to throw a hook, I have raised it by well over 65
pins. I also had to read a lot of books, as well.
 In 1982, I had a 195 average in 4 leauges, just 20 shy of what would've
qualified me for membership in the PBA. Those last 20 are a bear to add, too.
Since the chemo, I have completly lost my form, and I have had niether the
time or the money to get it back. One of these days, I will reeducate myself
and become deadly to people's pockets once more. But for now, I'm content to
watch the TV finals, and relive my salad days. ;)

This item has been linked from Sports 45 to Intro 62.
Type "join sports" at the Ok: prompt for discussion of
athletic pursuits of all kinds.
