Grex Sports Item 133: Should UM just sack RichRod, or let the alums draw and quarter him?
Entered by omni on Sat Dec 4 06:56:03 UTC 2010:

Rich Rod has committed a sin, that is failed to produce a winning
season. Many alums and the faithful are calling for his head, that is,
either burn him at the stake on the Diag, or merely draw and quarter him
 at the Big House.

I for one, feel that he didn't commit a sin, he just had some bad
games and lost to teams we felt he shouldn't have lost to. OSU of late
has been a powerhouse, but then Michigan was one as well.

So what shall be done? Let us discuss.

(Dont faint over the new item, I'm a little bored these days.)

Michigan has improved from RichRod's 1st, to his 2nd, to this his 3rd
season. The team was 7-5 this year and will go to a bowl game for the
first time since Lloyd Carr retired.

The bowl game won't be a very impressive one, but it will be important
for another reason: teams which go to bowl games get a couple of extra
weeks of practice. That is very important in terms of evaluating young
talent and bringing some of the younger players into the team's system
more quickly.

If Michigan replaces RichRod after the bowl game, they're going to have
to spend years replacing the RichRod system players with kids who will
fit into the new coach's system. That could be hard for Michigan fans
to take. I don't think they will fire their coach unless they are
certain they can get another one who is better. Speculation in Ann
Arbor is that they would like to get Jim Harbaugh, currently Stanford's
coach, formerly a star QB for Michigan.

Note that I am a Michigan State fan.
