(You are driving along a busy intersection when you notice an animal by the side of the road. It's obviously been hit by a passing vehicle, but has not died yet. It also looks as if it might have been someone's pet.) (do you stop your car to take a closer look at it?)

Yes...
Of course...Never would I consider letting an animal suffer...
If the injuries are minor: yes, I would save it. If it is mortaly wounded: one (or more) swift blow to the head would put it out of it's misery.

I might or I might not. It depends. I did try to help a cat that was hit by a car once, but It was too late.
I'd definitely stop to look at it. What I'd do after that would depend on circumstances.
This brings to mind a sad incident from my childhood. A cat was hit by a car in front of my house. The driver stopped and threw her out of the road onto our front lawn. I went over to see if she could be saved and realized that she was pregnant, but dead. I watched for what seemed like most of a day, with tears running on my face as the kits writhed and struggled and slowly died of suffocation. Had I been older I might have known about c-setions, and I might have tried to save the kits. But at 7 I didn't know. My mother just said not to touch it.
Hmmm...performing C-sectionds at age 7 is not the best isdea in the world. But it might have been woth a shot...the kittens would have died anyways, even if you had goofed in the operation. To those who wuld have put it out of its misery I say How? Pixck up a stick and club it? Run it over? Actually, no I don't have any hard feelings towards animals, I'm just curious.
The seven year old wouldn't have to know how to do a c section, just that they were possible. Knowing that they were possible the seven year old could have gone and found somebody who did know how. Not knowing they were possible, that would have been kind of pointless.
I would probably call some type of vet?
I probably would've called the humain socity
while it is true even the sweetest of animals can become mean spirited when hurt, i dont think i would be able to stop myself from trying to help it in some way...especially as it is small...
the last not-quite-roadkill I remember assisting was a rabbit that I'd found while doing my paper route some years ago. my dad and I took it all the way out to Pittsfield Township because ithad the only animal doctor nearby that wsa open on a Sunday. Unfortunately, the rabbit died. Usually, if I find a dead squirrel in the road (I'm usually on bike when I do this), and the body hasn't been crushed by oncoming trafic yet, I will pick up the carcass and move it to the side of the road. I wash my hands later.
If I could see that the animal was definately alive, yes I would stop. I have a great love for animals. A few years ago my sister's dog got hit on a highway near our house and I turned around the block to see if it was really him. Someone had already called the city to come and do something with his body. All I wanted to do was go and hold him, because he wasn't dead yet. Nobody, even animals, should have to die alone.
when you do sas much driving as i do you hit alot of animals so you tend to learn that if an animal is laying on the side of the road it is going to die so why hold up trajjic; trajjic=traffic; run that sucker down
If i thought the animal could be saved , yes. if traffic permitted.
Yes stop, inspect, dial 911 wait to file report and give observations, remember in some states it is illegal to leave an accident scene or disregard one.
I most situations yes, I'd stop, but if I was in a REALLY bid hurry I'd just call the humane socity the next chance I get
If it's not dead, yet, I carefully take it home, kill it, cut it into smaller pieces if nescessary, and freeze it for later meals.
Generally, I will just run the animal over again to make sure that the critter isn't in any pain...
If I'm not drunk, I usually stop and take the animal to the vet to be put to sleep. Once I put an unconscious but living dog in the bed of my truck...it came-to while I was going 75 down the highway and fell out of the bed of the truck. Needless to say, I don't stop on freeways.
No, I would not stop. That sounds mean, but this is a game of honesty, right?
