(you're driving along the highway. you notice two grown men rolling around on the side, obviously struggling. you also notice that at least one of the men is carrying a gun, tucked in his belt, in back. while he has not drawn it yet, the fight appears to be of such ferocity that gunplay may occur. you're not in any sort of rush to be anywhere; you're only on the highway because it's the most direct route to where you're going.) (do you try to contact the authorities?)

yes.
I would pull off the highway, find a phone, and call the authorities. What I wouldn't do is try to interfere, because I might end up shot too.

How do we know these people with the gun arent the athorities ?
if they are, then notifying the authorities won't do any harm. if they aren't, then it will do good. either way, i notify the police.
I would.
I agree with everyone else, and am relieved that the question wasn't "do you try to break it up?" Can't wait for part deux; I presume it will be some new factor that will make us want to not make that call.
item #44 contains the second part.
Call 911 on car phone/cellular and get my own weapon ready (Texas has a new law that allows people with a certain liscense to carry concealed weapons)
Position the vehicle so as to protect myself and facilitate an escape, come to a stop, beep the horn loudly and make vocal inquiries. Put emergency flashers on and only draw my revolver if immediately threatened by deadly force or if one of the others is so threatened. If such results then demand identification at gunpoint and flag motorists to have them contact State Patrol immediately
While they're still rolling around on the ground, I'd pour maple syrup all over both ofthem, then break outthe video camera, and just sit back and watch.
why not run over the both of them. STOP ALL WAR!!!!
I'd call in the authorities b/c it couldn't hurt; could only help.
RE #14: That sounds like a good way to get shot.
I'd honk persistently, and when the one with the gun stood up, I would run him down, later explaining his threatening behavior. Now, if he really is a cop, then I would be screwed, but if not, then he probably has a history of violence, and they probably won't check too hard, and I would bet money that the other guy wouldn't say anything.
