What would you do if a system you were working hard on (as your disertation) was stolen by a bunch of idiots?

That people accepted each other, in spite of their problems, this was good, yes? But maybe too easy, I think, because some don't even realize there's room for improvement.
I would simply hurt them and take it back.
If they are truely idiots then trick them. Use devious means to get it from them and then hurt them.
But the pain part isn't optional. If they don't wanna get hurt, they
should steal from pacifist or those who've sworn off violence.
Take it back. Use whatever means are at your disposal. Failing that, make the system useless to them. If you can't get your own work back, make sure that they can't use it either.
Use itching powder.
I think I'd rather improve my work, even if I have to start over and make it of public domain, so that the guys who stole it won't have any use for it, and will feel very screwed... (sorry for the english)
Ditto response #3....failing that, go to plan B and take it back with overwhelming force. Whatever someone does to you, make the consequences three times worse on them.
I'd slash their tires, burn their house, get them fired and take my work back... and then improve it in case they made copies.
