Missed the first show, described as a techie tour of all the goodies on
board the ship.

Why? Why must the second show of sf tv be the premis destroying plot?
We all know that we are not going to lose a main character in the
second show of the season. Why do they have such a idiot's only show?

#2 of 26 by bap on Mon Sep 20 14:12:06 1993:

I was even less impressed by this show than the first one. This is worse
than the Spacerangers, which I at least thought had possibilities. I mean,
how can these guys be so dumb as to not realize that the dolphin might have
picked up something from their spill. And the Lava bouy? What kind of
idiot creates a ceramic dohicky to drop into a volcano that is extruding
material with the plan of it getting sucked into the mantle? And why did
the scientist succumb so easily to the psychological pap and the external
view to calm his nerves?

I hate the show. I hate the people who watch it. I hate everybody.

All I've seen so far are the commercials, which have convinced me to
keep watching _Lois_and_Clark_ instead.

#5 of 26 by vidar on Wed Sep 22 01:49:47 1993:

I hate you too!

#6 of 26 by robh on Wed Sep 22 01:58:17 1993:

Aw, I looooooooooove you! (robh kisses vidar) Mmmmmmmm-waw!

#7 of 26 by vidar on Wed Sep 22 23:51:42 1993:

(vidar taking mild offense grabs a near by gauntlet and hits robh in the
right cheek with it.) You're sick, man!

Shut up......Robh's the owner o' this .cf, and I for one think he's a cool guy.

#9 of 26 by robh on Sun Sep 26 20:26:16 1993:

Well, thanks.

What, no more commentary on Seaquest DS9, er, DSV?

#10 of 26 by vidar on Sun Sep 26 22:55:40 1993:

Sky, I can't "Shut up". First of all, I didn't "say" anything. I thought it
and then wrote it down. Don't take things so seriously. -

1 show, and I gave up. Lois & clark look more interesting. As long as that
is on, it will get my viewing. Maybe DSV if not. Let's see if it survies
a year, then it may be worth watching.

#12 of 26 by kaplan on Thu Dec 16 20:08:02 1993:

I doubt SeaQuest can survive a year. The only reason that it lasted
longer than Space Rangers is that the network bought an entire year's worth
without knowing how bad it was going to be.

Did anyone catch the old west episode that was on right after Thanksgiving?
I guess it's manditory that every scifi TV show attempts an old west
episode. Was this one as lousy as I'd assume it was?

#13 of 26 by kaplan on Thu Jan 6 02:39:36 1994:

I guess I decided to watch SeaQuest this week because 1 or 2 of my
friends are taping L&C and I figure I'll catch up on those later...

I was pleasantly suprised! Perhaps this was a relatively good
episode, or perhaps the series has improved in the months since I
watched it last.

It was about an old friend and rival of Bridger who is commanding the
first manned mission to Mars. Something went wrong on re-entry and
the mars astronauts are stranded (big surprise) under water where the
SeaQuest is the only ship that can possibly save them!

A major source of conflict in the show was the fear that congress people
impressed with the accomplishemts of the space program will divert
money from important and relavant research and stuff going on under the
sea to the space program. Does that really happen? I was under the
impression that scientists are more concerned with spending on science
vs. foreign aid, welfare, etc.

Whoa! Long responses can be hazardous to certain conferencer's health.

Has Anyone read this recently? If you do don't insult the show. It rocks!!

#16 of 26 by aruba on Tue Nov 22 00:21:27 1994:

I think it's been erratic at best. And it's getting more like Baywatch
all the time. I still watch it occasionally though - I'm a sucker for
special effects.

#17 of 26 by gregc on Sun Nov 27 16:46:25 1994:

Same here, watch it occaisionally, the science *sucks* though. Thet
get so much stuff wrong it isn't funny.

#18 of 26 by snafu on Wed Dec 21 20:13:16 1994:

Thank you. At least there is someone else who watches it.

#19 of 26 by adbruski on Mon Jan 30 03:29:08 1995:

If anyone is still reading this thing I`d just like give Sea Quest a
little support. Anyone remember ST:TNG when it first came out?
It sucked. Plain and simple. They were treading in the footsteps
of the Star Trek legend and it took them two seasons to establish their
own identity. Sea Quest bears a strong resemblence to Star Trek, but
they had to start somewhere. The show, if you haven`t noticed, has
improved greatly already and will continue to do so if we show it
a little paitence. Remember ST:TNG wasn`t supposed to last a season,
but it ended up at 7 seasons and god only knows how many
movies.
P.S. If anyone ever wants to discuss Sea Quest just drop me a line.

Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea: The Next Generation.

#21 of 26 by lando on Sat Feb 17 15:29:14 1996:

I liked SeaQuest the first season, the second season it got a little worse
this season I don't even watch it. Captain Bridger was cool. At the end
of the second season they really started to run out of ideas. Now the
shows are pretty crappy. THe introduction of Daggers, and Dagwood, was cool
but then they killed brody (however you spell it) and got the new captain
that's when i said the heck with it.

#22 of 26 by bubu on Sat Feb 17 15:31:47 1996:

I used to watch Seaquest every week until they started in with the Giant sea
monsters and the haunted sunken ship thing...I could tell they were really
stretching for story lines...

#23 of 26 by gregc on Sat Feb 17 19:59:34 1996:

You mean when they reached the "Let's watch old episodes of _Voyage to
the bottom of the Sea_ for plot ideas" phase? :-)

#24 of 26 by aruba on Mon Feb 19 18:38:21 1996:

Worse than that. They tried to appeal to Baywatch viewers.

#25 of 26 by octavius on Wed Feb 21 17:50:43 1996:

Big mistake. Baywatch should be taken off the air, it moved Star Trek
to a later time slot on one of the stations local for me. (And they no
longer show the original series at a convenient time.)

I used to LOVE SeaQuest . . . I used to see it when i was small . . .
