I just finished "In The Company Of Mind" by Stephen Piziks. I was up until 12:30 a.m. to finish it, which may tell you more if I add that I'm usually asleep by 11:00. It's a fascinating adventure and psychology story about a man who has Multiple Personality Disorder (MPD) and a career as an adventurous computer security expert. It is not my style when reviewing a book to tell much about it. That's the author's job. I'll just say this one is fast-paced, highly interesting, well-written, and seems well-researched. It is *filled* with the f-word, which would normally be a turn-off for me, but in this case, it was merited as a part of the story. I'll have to add that there is graphic rape violence in the story, which may be why I was sitting on the floor by the toilet with nausea for a while one night when I was reading it (but it may have been a touch of the flu). This was a severe turn-off for me, obviously, but it was not gratuitous; it was an important part of the story. Piziks is a former M-Netter. I remember him entering an item there about his first short-story sale. His name caught my eye at Barnes & Noble, and I bought the book. I'm very glad I did. They have several autographed copies left.

I am friends with his writing group, and I was told that he actually took out some of the more graphic violence. Eeep! But I agree, this was a book that I found fascinating and hard to put down.
I remember Stephen Piziks. He was also on Grex in the early days.
I can't say I was impressed by this book. It read to me like a compendium of teenage male fantasies - extreme parental persecution, super-powers, penis enlargement, sexual irresistability, nobody loves me, etc.
