How many Doctor Who fans do we have here? I see that there was a Doctor Who thread a while ago, but it looks like it's very old. I'll start. The BBC range of Doctor Who books seems to be doing fairly well. I've so far read The Eight Doctors, Devil Goblins from Neptune, Short Trips, Face of the Enemy, and Mission: Impractical. I think that the newest one (M:I) was a very good book. I know that many people didn't like the Sixth Doctor (as played by Colin Baker) but I think that reviving the old Marvel comic strip companion was a good idea. What else can I say? ... Michael (?sp) Sheard is slated to play The Doctor in a new Cushing-esque Doctor Who movie. Bye for now!!

Well, the Doctor Who mania in Public TV stations died out a few years ago; I haven't seen it in quite a while.
The last Dr. Who I saw was that TV movie a few years ago..in fact, I think that's the *only* Dr Who I've ever seen...
it would be nice, however, if pbs or maybe a canadian station would start showing "dr. who" again. watching john pertwee or tom baker every saturday afternoon was one of my favorite things to do when i was a kid. :)
When I was into it, I had to stay up late on weekends to get my fix. I'd like to see it on TV again too.
It would; Dr. Who was pretty cool (and I'd like to see the many Pertwee and Troughton episodes I missed when I was growing up).
The SciFi Channel was showing Dr. Who in the half-hour format. I don't know if they are still doing so.
The SciFi channel is no longer showing Dr.Who because it was too expensive for them. They figured that since no one was watching it (HA!) they were wasting their money. It's understandable that few people were watching it. Doctor Who was originally aired commercial-free, and the SciFi channel adds lots of commercials to their programs. Because of DrWho's commercial-free nature, lots and lots of little cuts had to be made, to the annoyance of fans who had seen the episodes 462 times before and *knew* that something was missing. At least there's hope of a national Doctor Who feed to PBS stations. Nothing much has been finalized yet, but they'll be airing (IF this idea comes to fruition) one (maybe two) episodes a week. The episodes will be from the first few Tom Baker seasons (ie Teeth & Curls). For the fans with Sattelite dishes (or generous cable companies) there is BBC America, which airs episodes 1-4 of "Robot" (Tom Baker's first story) every week. Ick... That's my take, and I'm AlexDW http://fast.to/doctorwho
Sylvester McCoy RULES!!!
I've been a fan since 1980. It's a shame that since the Sci Fi channel quit carrying the show that none of the PBS stations renewed their contracts with the BBC or Lionheart. Dr. Who always did well during the pledge drives. It paid for itself with viewer donations. Hopefully, 56 will realize this and buy the episodes again.
Well, I am not sure they will be put back on the telly . . . to a lot of people, they seem rather "old fashioned", but they are starting to put them out on videocassettes now, so maybe there is hope after all!
I think Dr. Who DVDs are on the way for the American audience.
Will they be dubbed or subtitled? ;)
Dubbed??? BLASPHEMY!!!!!
Uhh... re-read the last four responses. Slowly.
