How come? Feeling a little "alienated"? :)
John, phone home. :)
Sorry for not being around for so long - my old computer had one of those transitions to a more stable state.
fish tank? door stop? high tech clock? :)
Hello. I just recently came on line and I already have a problem that I hope someone can help me with. I have figured out how to send mail (some might say a miracle in and of itself), but when I received a response I couldn't figure out how to read it, and now I think I have erased it. I would be very thankful if any one could let me know how I solve my problem.
Type "!mail -f" (without the quotes) to get your message back. Then type "1" to read it. Type "r" to reply to it and/or "d" to delete it. Then type "q" to get out of the mail program. For more info, type "?" while you're in the mail program. For even more info, join the info conference and check out the item that talks about the mali program.
darn nice login, guys!
Yeah, gave me a good laugh...you guys do that yourselves or lift 'em from someplace else? Can I have permission to use them somewhere else?
Nice ascii art indeed.
Well, I didn't ask permission to use them, so I have no objections. >8) I got them from a posting in alt.tv.mst3k a few weeks ago, and since I'd been trying unsuccessfully to draw Crow & Servo in ASCII for the banner, I snatched them immediately!
Definitely excellent looking login. Neat!!
I had a chuckle from the login, myself. ;-)
They just re-ran the MST3K episode "Santa Claus conquers the Martians" which is the inspiration for that graphic...
Here is a bit of FYI for all you SF fans. Channel 56 is showing Blake's 7 on Sat. evenings at 11:30 pm. They are showing the episodes in order. Get out your VCR tapes.
Yeah, but when I first started watching B7, they were terrible seventh- gen copies from West Virginia. It just doesn't feel right seeing good- looking copies. >8)
What is Blake's 7 ?
Matt, ...I'm stunned. Blake's 7 is one of best distopian SF series ever to get on the air. The FX were standard Brit cheese, but the character were to die for Rog Blake is a mind-wiped once and future rebel dissdent with charisma oozing out of his pores. His crew (The Seven) were Kir Avon, the computer expert with bad case of greed and arogance, Villa the thief and by his own admission a through coward, Jena the lady free trader (read smuggler) , Gan tremendously strong, tough and loyal to his friends a great guy if you ignore the fact that he's a convicted murderer ,Callie in and alien empath and guerilla fighter who survived a genocidal attack because she is an alien, finally Zen the AI of their ship that they dubbed the Liberator (stolen alien tech) . Then there are the villians Servalin the lady" Supreme Commander" Black Widow spiders and Praying Mantises al role models for her, Commander Travis who would be at home running concentration camps and you have quite a batch. I have over simplified lots just watch and enjoy.
Gamera!....Gamera!....Gamera is really neat, he is filled with turtle meat, We've been eating GAMERA!!!!!!
'Nuff said!
Long live the SciFi channel
Joined this conference while watching MST300! Enjoyed the login.
MST300? That must be the Public-television version.
Meow?
Is anyone on here now? Is the truth out there?
Blakes 7 - yeah, that's remarkable. Orac - the computer that looks just like a fishtank with a few ropelights in it, but is immensely powerful since it has really good network connectivity. If you remember that Blakes 7 was late 70s/early 80s, the concept of a computer that can search all the computeer databanks in the universe (read Internet).. not TOO far fetched, alhough does YOUR computer look like a fishtank?
Did they think about how powerful ORAC was? Avon could have been running the federation behind Blake's back the entire second season with the help of ORAC.
that's a good point. as much as Blake wanted to bring the Federation to its knees (shown by the effort he put into finding Star One), you would think that it would occur to him that ORAC could possibly do that. I don't know how willing ORAC would have been (snotty little fishtank), but Blake should have at least mentine mentioned the possiblity.
well people i have absolutely no idead who this blake dude is, but i love starwars so there!!!!! if you really want to know the(ugly) truth, one of the only reasons that i'm here is becuase cyberspace was one of the only "boards" i could join. ." select mail select read/new exit" ."
Hi Jason, welcome to Grex!
re:#20 the SciFi Channel has this nasty habit of chopping programs to fit the 46 minutes of program an hour limit. Even shows that don't have ads are chopped up, and all shows are usually cut without reason or rhyme. Are there any Red Dwarf fans around here?
Yes, there are, though Red Dwarf hasn't been shown on the air in Detroit for a while now. :(
I have most of the episodes, when i get another VCR, mabye we can set up some sort of exchange program...
Greetings, scifi'ers! Anyone on here a fan of fantasy? I've just joined in, and from the current entries, I can't tell. "."" ."
Chris,
I've read a lot of the TSR Forgotten Realms books.
Pattie
indeed. Prefer older fantasy, British especially, but have been reading a fair amount of what's current.
I've read a lot of fantasy, including the Dragonlance and Forgotten Realms series, but far and away the best fantasy stories are (in my opinion) those in the Eternal Champion cycle by Michael Moorcock...
The best stuff I've read has been the Dune series, Robert Asprin's Myth series, and Craig Shaw Gardener's Ciniverse Cycle. I also liked the Stainless Steel Rat and th The Forgotten Realms Clerical Quintet. Small question: anyone know where I can find a copy of Shock Rock 2 in either Central Mass. or the NYC/LI area?
My favorite fantasy author is Piers Anthony if you like bad puns and lots
of them read his Xanth novels. Has any one heard anything about the new s[
Startrek voyager?
Item 44 contains some information on ST:V.
