How come? Feeling a little "alienated"? :)

#2 of 196 by danr on Wed Sep 16 22:23:19 1992:

John, phone home. :)

#3 of 196 by dam on Thu Sep 17 02:21:20 1992:

Sorry for not being around for so long - my old computer had one of those
transitions to a more stable state.

#4 of 196 by popcorn on Fri Sep 18 02:45:43 1992:

fish tank? door stop? high tech clock?

#5 of 196 by matthew on Sat Nov 14 06:53:51 1992:

Hello. I just recently came on line and I already have a problem that
I hope someone can help me with. I have figured out how to send mail
(some might say a miracle in and of itself), but when I received a
response I couldn't figure out how to read it, and now I think I have
erased it. I would be very thankful if any one could let me know
how I solve my problem.

#6 of 196 by popcorn on Sat Nov 14 14:37:19 1992:

Type "!mail -f" (without the quotes) to get your message back.
Then type "1" to read it. Type "r" to reply to it and/or "d" to
delete it. Then type "q" to get out of the mail program.
For more info, type "?" while you're in the mail program.
For even more info, join the info conference and check out the
item that talks about the mali program.

darn nice login, guys!

#8 of 196 by kentn on Sun Nov 15 20:32:27 1992:

Yeah, gave me a good laugh...you guys do that yourselves or lift
'em from someplace else? Can I have permission to use them somewhere
else?

#9 of 196 by remmers on Sun Nov 15 22:00:50 1992:

Nice ascii art indeed.

#10 of 196 by robh on Sun Nov 15 22:52:03 1992:

Well, I didn't ask permission to use them, so I have no objections. >8)
I got them from a posting in alt.tv.mst3k a few weeks ago, and since I'd
been trying unsuccessfully to draw Crow & Servo in ASCII for the banner,
I snatched them immediately!

#11 of 196 by popcorn on Mon Nov 16 01:33:18 1992:

Definitely excellent looking login. Neat!!

#12 of 196 by morel on Wed Nov 18 23:55:16 1992:

I had a chuckle from the login, myself. ;-)

#13 of 196 by dam on Sun Dec 20 04:36:53 1992:

They just re-ran the MST3K episode "Santa Claus conquers the Martians" which
is the inspiration for that graphic...

#14 of 196 by drm on Tue May 4 05:30:16 1993:

Here is a bit of FYI for all you SF fans. Channel 56 is showing Blake's 7 on
Sat. evenings at 11:30 pm. They are showing the episodes in order. Get out
your VCR tapes.

#15 of 196 by robh on Tue May 4 22:11:49 1993:

Yeah, but when I first started watching B7, they were terrible seventh-
gen copies from West Virginia. It just doesn't feel right seeing good-
looking copies. >8)

#16 of 196 by matthew on Thu May 6 07:08:49 1993:

What is Blake's 7 ?

#17 of 196 by drm on Mon May 10 04:39:25 1993:

Matt, ...I'm stunned. Blake's 7 is one of best distopian SF series ever to
get on the air. The FX were standard Brit cheese, but the character were to
die for Rog Blake is a mind-wiped once and future rebel dissdent with charisma
oozing out of his pores. His crew (The Seven) were Kir Avon, the computer
expert with bad case of greed and arogance, Villa the thief and by his own
admission a through coward, Jena the lady free trader (read smuggler) , Gan
tremendously strong, tough and loyal to his friends a great guy if you ignore
the fact that he's a convicted murderer ,Callie in and alien empath and
guerilla fighter who survived a genocidal attack because she is an alien,
finally Zen the AI of their ship that they dubbed the Liberator (stolen alien
tech) . Then there are the villians Servalin the lady" Supreme Commander"
Black Widow spiders and Praying Mantises al role models for her, Commander
Travis who would be at home running concentration camps and you have quite a
batch. I have over simplified lots just watch and enjoy.

MST300? That must be the Public-television version.

#23 of 196 by vidar on Thu Sep 30 02:03:52 1993:

Meow?

#24 of 196 by gander on Fri Jun 3 21:27:12 1994:

Is anyone on here now? Is the truth out there?

#25 of 196 by welshie on Sun Jun 19 20:47:52 1994:

Blakes 7 - yeah, that's remarkable. Orac - the computer that looks just
like a fishtank with a few ropelights in it, but is immensely powerful
since it has really good network connectivity. If you remember that Blakes
7 was late 70s/early 80s, the concept of a computer that can search all the
computeer databanks in the universe (read Internet).. not TOO far fetched,
alhough does YOUR computer look like a fishtank?

#26 of 196 by kaplan on Wed Jun 22 19:17:09 1994:

Did they think about how powerful ORAC was? Avon could have been running
the federation behind Blake's back the entire second season with the help
of ORAC.

#27 of 196 by kstuart on Thu Jun 23 17:35:54 1994:

that's a good point. as much as Blake wanted to bring the Federation to
its knees (shown by the effort he put into finding Star One), you would
think that it would occur to him that ORAC could possibly do that. I don't
know how willing ORAC would have been (snotty little fishtank), but Blake
should have at least mentine
mentioned the possiblity.

#28 of 196 by jrica on Mon Sep 12 00:50:55 1994:

well people i have absolutely no idead who this blake dude is, but i love
starwars so there!!!!! if you really want to know the(ugly) truth, one of the
only reasons that i'm here is becuase cyberspace was one of the only "boards" i
could join. ." select mail select read/new exit" ."

#29 of 196 by aruba on Mon Sep 12 01:44:37 1994:

Hi Jason, welcome to Grex!

#30 of 196 by cyberpnk on Tue Sep 20 19:55:41 1994:

re:#20 the SciFi Channel has this nasty habit of chopping programs to fit the
46 minutes of program an hour limit. Even shows that don't have ads are chopped
up, and all shows are usually cut without reason or rhyme. Are there any Red
Dwarf fans around here?

#31 of 196 by aruba on Wed Sep 21 12:56:43 1994:

Yes, there are, though Red Dwarf hasn't been shown on the air in Detroit
for a while now. :(

#32 of 196 by cyberpnk on Thu Sep 22 18:25:33 1994:

I have most of the episodes, when i get another VCR, mabye we can set up some
sort of exchange program...

#33 of 196 by sidhe on Tue Oct 4 17:56:59 1994:

Greetings, scifi'ers! Anyone on here a fan of fantasy? I've just joined in, and
from the current entries, I can't tell. "."" ."

#34 of 196 by pegasus on Tue Oct 4 19:51:47 1994:

Chris,

I've read a lot of the TSR Forgotten Realms books.

        Pattie

#35 of 196 by kami on Wed Oct 5 19:56:22 1994:

indeed. Prefer older fantasy, British especially, but have been reading a
fair amount of what's current.

#36 of 196 by cyberpnk on Tue Oct 11 19:05:42 1994:

I've read a lot of fantasy, including the Dragonlance and Forgotten Realms
series, but far and away the best fantasy stories are (in my opinion) those in
the Eternal Champion cycle by Michael Moorcock...

#37 of 196 by tyche on Fri Oct 21 21:55:12 1994:

The best stuff I've read has been the Dune series, Robert Asprin's Myth series,
and Craig Shaw Gardener's Ciniverse Cycle. I also liked the Stainless Steel Rat
and th The Forgotten Realms Clerical Quintet. Small question: anyone know where
I can find a copy of Shock Rock 2 in either Central Mass. or the NYC/LI area?

#38 of 196 by twiggy on Wed Nov 9 20:24:54 1994:

My favorite fantasy author is Piers Anthony if you like bad puns and lots
of them read his Xanth novels. Has any one heard anything about the new s[
             Startrek voyager?

#39 of 196 by aruba on Thu Nov 10 03:27:27 1994:
