Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn are currently aligned in order (with Uranus and Neptune in the background but invisible to the naked eye) in the eastern sky before dawn. The best viewing, with the waning crescent Moon to boot, was supposed to be on June 24, but the sky has been overcast all week here in Japan. :( However, this morning I could spot Venus shining like a diamond with Mars, Jupiter, and the Moon through gaps in the clouds! Well-worth getting out of bed at 4 a.m. :)
