Grex Rpg Item 24: Off-line Gaming Announcements
Entered by e4808mc on Fri Dec 13 18:30:54 UTC 1996:

Several of us are starting a new gaming group in January. Strictly Forgotten
Realms, meet every other Saturday from 4 - 10 (probably), need mature players
willing to start 1st and 2nd level and grow characters over the long haul.
No evil PCs. Email me and I'll give you the DMs name and phone number, and
answer any questions. I've played with him in the past, and he's fun.

27 responses total.

Appealing, this is local I take it? where exactly would we meet, & any age
limits?

#2 of 27 by snafu on Sat Dec 14 00:10:35 1996:

And what is forgotten realms? Will someone please enlighten a poor, deprived
starting gamer, who has never really played much, but is wanting very much
to start?

Forgotten Realms is the - for lack of a better word - "traditional" Advanced
Dungeons and Dragons campaign setting which subcontains such other settings
as the defunct Al-Qadim and Kara-Tur. It has spawned spawned such heroes in
its novels as: Drizzt Do'Urden alias "and the aptly named, Dragonbait",
Elminster, the Harpers, Lord Mourngrym Amchanthra, Shaerl Amchathra, King
Azoun, Vangerdahast, et al. And such Villians as: the Lady Cassana, Suul the
Lich, Phalse (We're not saying Phalse what, read the Finder Stone trilogy and
find out), et al.

Ok....

#5 of 27 by e4808mc on Sun Dec 15 01:38:38 1996:

Age limits are based on gaming style, not chronology. This is not a
hack/slash type DM, and there is a lot of role playing and character
development. Magic items, money, and monsters are not the main goals.
Yes, it's local (A2, Ypsi).

#6 of 27 by snafu on Mon Dec 16 01:01:04 1996:

Well, I'd love to play, but depending on how long it lasted, I'd have to drop
out when spring rolls around. (As would kain, if he stays on the crew team)

#7 of 27 by e4808mc on Tue Dec 17 04:20:22 1996:

Anyone who wants to talk about it more can email me. I'll give you a phone
number to call.

Gaming group looking for new members. Call Mike Long at 484-1821.
This is a public service announcement.
(Actually, this is the game talked about above. We're probably only going
to play one Saturday a month. Probably noon to 10pm.

#11 of 27 by e4808mc on Tue Jan 28 16:59:18 1997:

And, this is a good game for beginners, and people who are just curious.
We're starting at a very basic level. Lots of time to learn how to play and
build up your characters.

#12 of 27 by snafu on Tue Jan 28 22:26:03 1997:

Which system?

#13 of 27 by matthew on Thu Jan 30 04:37:11 1997:

Where is this likely to happen ?

#14 of 27 by e4808mc on Fri Jan 31 04:24:12 1997:

Advanced Dungeon & Dragons, 2nd Edition. Forgotten Realms world.
Place: Ypsilanti, but people from A2 will be driving over and would carpool.

#15 of 27 by coyote on Fri Jan 31 22:46:40 1997:

Actually, I might be interested, but I'd have to have more information before
I could make a commitment

#16 of 27 by e4808mc on Sat Feb 1 02:08:39 1997:

Call Mike, he'll answer any questions.

#17 of 27 by longm4 on Sun Feb 2 00:50:28 1997:

Sorry, It took me so long to get on line. I will be glad to answer the above
questions. The system is AD&D 2nd Ed. With of course modifications. I am
always willing to listen to suggestions. The modifications are documented.
It will happen in my basement (physical world) Forgotten Realms location.
Exactly, I not sure yet it will depend upon the characters which are created.
The first session will most likely consist of character "role" up and
sketching, There will likely be some actual gaming to create introductions
of characters who do not already know one another. If there are any other
questions do not hesitate to call (313)484-1821 or E-mail me at longm4@aol.com

#20 of 27 by cmcgee on Tue Feb 11 04:21:05 1997:

Yep, I'm Colleen, aka Ashlea.

#21 of 27 by longm4 on Tue Feb 11 11:22:38 1997:

I thought your name sounded familiar. Anyway as I said before, Since no one
appears to be interested enough to call or even email me I guess we will just
start with what we have. On the date I mentioned to you over the phone. Give
me a call later and I will give you detailed directions on how to get here.
Thanks for your help Colleen.
