U-CON '96 Needs YOU ! U-Con, Ann Arbors own gaming convention needs your help. We are looking for game masters and volunteers to help out around the convention. U-Con will run from Oct 25th through Oct 27th at the University of Michigan Student Union. If you have any questions you can call (313) 930-6363, email ucon96info@umich.edu, http://www.deathstar.org/~ucon, or ask me here. I'd advise checking one of the other sources first, as I do not have too much info at this point.
60 responses total.
where can you get lists of the various activities?
Eek! I'll be at college - but I will have a smaller con to attend.
They just sent out flyers asking for people to run events at the con. You can get more info at at the web page or at the email address I listed in the title: ucon96info@umich.edu http://www.deathstar.org/~ucon
How old must you be?
There is no age level to run a game that I am aware of. You may watnt to run that question by the info people at ucon96info@umich.edu and se e what they say.
Do you know what the games being run are? and what other positions there are? and if there are any openings for a loyal hacker? Or should I ask them?
Check out the webpage (the url is in an earlier response and the opening paragraph) or write to the info address. At this point they are seeking people to run games, so nothing is set yet.
This item has been linked from RPG 11 to Intro 93. Type "join rpg" at the Ok: prompr for discussion of games of many sorts, including role-playing games. As a former staff member of U-Con, for four years, I'm glad to see it's still going.
What U-Con?
The UofM gaming convention, no?
Yes.
What do they do?
RE #12: It's a weekend long gaming convention. Games, a few panels, and a dealers room. All here in Ann Arbor, at the UM student Union
How to go through this gamer convention?
Perhaps someone who has been before should answer micro's question.
What is "gaming" in the sense used here? I am visualizing a row of checker boards. What other games are played?
Generally war games/simulations, role-playing games, and such are the norm. I've never seen anyone play checkers at U-Con, though I have seen a few games of chess during the six I've attended. (And collectible card games, can't forget those no matter how hard I try...)
rage :P ;)

this is ad&d? what level characters?
If U want the shit it's in the pre-reg booklet (U get this @ riders or underworld) or mail one of the folks on the questions list (it is AD&D, though)
(what is ad&d ?)
AD&D is Advanced Dungeon and Dragons, the evolution of TSR's D&D or Dungeon and Dragons game. Actually it has morphed again into 2nd Edition ADD.
And with the addition of the Player's and DM's Option series has mutated into edition 2.2.
I know what ad&d is ( I probably played it before many of you were born ). I was sasking about the last line of response #26 which read: #26 of 29: by that guy (eldrich) on Sun, Oct 20, 1996 (12:36): If U want the shit it's in the pre-reg booklet (U get this @ riders or underwor ld) or mail one of the folks on the questions list (it is AD&D, though) Then I did a closer study of hte previous responses and figured it out. SO never mind.
I always respond to birthday challenges. When were you born matthew? I'm willing to bet I'm at least (catriona tries to maximize the number for shock value) 15 years older than you.
So, in other words, you wish for eldrich to reitterate the title of the event?
No, he was confused by my little note to kain at the end of the response
Re #31: Check out item 10 to discover the answer to your challenge.
If you are correct about the 15 years, I'll have to yield
my title of Conference Geezer.
jeff!!! you're back!
So what did everyone think of the convention?
I come and I go. But I'm never gone.
I didn't end up going
Friday was a bust for me, as nobody showed up for the game I was running - well, one guy did, about two hours late - but Sunday was a lot of fun for me personally, I managed to get into three games and finished second in each one.
