I'll Start.
I'm Jon Baker. I'm 14 and a freshman at Huron High. Iplay all sorts of AD&D
and have a passion for role playing. I've done a little star wars and I know
a little about WarHammer. I'm willing to learn anything new so long as it
doesn't take tooo long. I'm also into video games, ESPECIALLY rpgs. That
was the entire reason I created this conference. TO have a mix of both. I'd
like to see more video game items but that got overloaded last time so, I'm
working on it

I'm Jamie Murphy, aka Murph. I'm 16 and a Junior at CHS. Um, that's Chelsea,
not Community. I've played AD&D of various flavors for about 5 years,
and I've played a little bit of various other things...I like rpgs and video
game rpgs, and almost anything involving your typical (or atypical)
"swords & sorcery" fantasy.

I'm Bjorn Arnesen. (pronounced "Byurn"), I am 18 years old. Up until
recently, I was attending Winona State University. I've played mostly AD&D
and D&D in all their forms for the last 13 years. I am willing to play
anything, and have had recent experience w/ other Role-playing games, most
noteably Star Wars. I am still loyal to AD&D though I have played similar
genre systems.

I'm Jeffry Herman. I am 24 years old, a graduate of U of M, currently
working at the Purple Rose Theatre in Chelsea. For the last few years,
I've mostly been playing in loose systems created by individual GM's,
but I've played pretty much every role-playing game invented at least
once at some point. I like games which emphasize role-playing over
winning or whatever, which usually depends on the players and GM, not
the system.

I'm Matt Fulton, age 30 (going on 5). I have a degree in Theater from Eastern
Mi Univ. and curently work for the Univ of MI in ITD and in Housign Security.
I've most recently played various things from White Wolf. My preferences also
include On the Edge, Hero system, the Rolemaster system, and GURPS (with s
strong mix of self created systems from time to time.)

A new system, just released at Gen Con, last week, has captured my attention.
It is from Pinnacle Games and is called _Deadlands, the Wierd West_ It is
slightly (very slightly) tounge in cheek Western Horror. It's a really neat
game so far (not done reading the rules yet) with an interesting alternate
history to explain why things aer the way they are. Look for it soon in gaming
stores near you.

#8 of 58 by bjorn on Fri Aug 16 13:42:42 1996:

I read about it in my Gen Con registration booklet - I just wish I'd finished
the for in time to actually go to Gen Con. Ah well, next year, perhaps.

#9 of 58 by kain on Fri Aug 16 16:09:49 1996:

when and where is it?

#10 of 58 by bjorn on Fri Aug 16 19:18:01 1996:

When: August '97 I'd imagine.
Where: MECCA Convention Center, Milwaukee, WI.

#11 of 58 by gandalf on Fri Aug 16 19:57:07 1996:

Ok, I'm bored, so I guess I can tell a little bit about myself. First
off, I live in Gaylord, Michigan, which, might I add, is the most boring
town on the face of the planet. I turn 16 next Sunday, which is cool.
I started playing RPGs about 3 years ago. Now I play Magic a little bit,
and AD&D a little bit. I also like to play just about any computer RPGs
right now, when I'm not surfing the net. That's me!

#12 of 58 by bjorn on Fri Aug 16 20:57:46 1996:

I'm sure you'll find something to do around either this conference or Great
Ring.

#13 of 58 by matthew on Sat Aug 17 03:04:40 1996:

If you have any interest in going to Gen Con, it's usually a good idea to look
into getting your hotel room around March, they fill up fast.

#14 of 58 by kain on Sun Aug 18 14:26:29 1996:

hmm... looks like I'm not going

#19 of 58 by bjorn on Thu Aug 22 04:25:00 1996:

14, soon to be 15, freshman, huron high school.

#23 of 58 by jsr on Wed Aug 28 20:32:50 1996:

Me? I'm one of those guys who gave up on college after two years.
Now I'm a Systems Analyst working at Ford Motor Company. In a couple
of weeks I'll be a year older. (Does it really work that way?) 44.

#24 of 58 by ziggy on Thu Sep 5 14:30:07 1996:

I'm 20, I play AD&D, Vampire, and Cyberpunk...so far. I don't really have
any expectations about this place, just curiosity. I'm interested in meeting
other girls who play, they seem to be rather rare. By the way, I just moved
from Milwaukee, I'm gonna miss Gen Con again next year...life stinks!

#25 of 58 by kain on Fri Sep 6 00:32:34 1996:

where did you move to?
are you local now?

#26 of 58 by matthew on Fri Sep 6 04:03:50 1996:

women gamers are somewhat rare, though rarer here on grex than elsewhere.
Milwaukee is not too far, you could still go to Gen-Con. THere area rather
large number of Ann Arbor area folk who go every year. (This presumes you've
moved into the area - if not depending on where yuo are, it could be more
difficult))

In any case, welcome to Grex.

#27 of 58 by bjorn on Fri Sep 6 20:22:43 1996:

We have one person in my Planescape adventure who is not female, but is
playing a female character. This is something that I, too, have been known
to do. In fact, the majority of my AD&D characters created last year are/were
female.

#28 of 58 by eldrich on Sun Sep 22 22:57:06 1996:

Imagined cross-dressing, been trhere, ndone that.
learn and eventually will in most cases.

#29 of 58 by mneme on Wed Oct 2 22:17:14 1996:

Heh. I've played men, boys, and young girls (as well as sexless aliens).
I've even played older women (I'd forgottten the two more recent PCs that
I played which matched the "older women" profile when I wrote the first
sentance) and a 250 year old native american man who looked 25 and had
serious disguise skills, which allowed him to play young and older women,
an old Jewish councilman, a thousand (or more) year old sidhe, and various
other things (not to meantion a totally untrue (well, mostly) reputation
for kinkyness).
So I haven't just "crossdressed (by playing a femaile character); I've
played a character who was crossdressing by playing a female role.

#30 of 58 by starwolf on Thu Oct 3 17:36:14 1996:

Good for you.

#31 of 58 by e4808mc on Sat Oct 26 03:46:50 1996:

I'm older than Jeff Richmond, so I now claim the conference geezer title.
I mostly play Forgotten Realms in ADD, but also play historical war games.
Occasionally I design gaming simulations for corporations, having actually
gotten a master's level certificate in gaming at UM.

#32 of 58 by eldrich on Thu Oct 31 22:00:41 1996:

I didn't know they gave out certificates for that kind of thing...

#33 of 58 by e4808mc on Fri Nov 1 02:13:32 1996:

Yep, its through the Urban Planning department. Seems like the guys who
started the NASAGA and ISAGA (north american, and international simulation
and gaming association) were all urban planners dealing with systems analysis
and large-system modeling back in the late 60s. UM's guys started it, and
thus the certificate program resides there. A lot of the younger professors
are now in the business school.

#34 of 58 by e4808mc on Fri Nov 1 02:45:17 1996:

Or did you mean a certificate for being congerence geezer? <grin>

#35 of 58 by matthew on Fri Nov 1 23:34:47 1996:

(How old are you ?)
Yes, you can get a gaming cerificate at the U of M. A friend of mine teaches
in the program.

#36 of 58 by eldrich on Sat Nov 2 16:41:25 1996:

Wait... so they teach gamming too?!

#37 of 58 by kain on Sat Nov 2 18:25:37 1996:

em408mc, would you be interested in playing a little planescape? We need more
players, check out the fires of dis anventure item, if you feel like starting
a campaign, we only really have one going now, wouldn't hurt to have two..

#38 of 58 by snafu on Sat Nov 2 20:59:30 1996:

wow... degrees in gameing....

#39 of 58 by kain on Sun Nov 3 03:53:25 1996:
