To Those it May Concern: I have been directed to this site, and just glancing upon your discussion pieces, I would like to put in a few words in the hopes of not offending anyone. I in no way have any fear of being called a fool, either =) Reality: truly an important foundation of thought…that should be addressed only for the sake of clarity. It seems to me that a lasting philosophical discussion on reality denotes a struggle with near- sightedness. Back and forth it goes, like the arguments we as children liked to get into ”No it isn’t. ‘Yes it is’ ‘I know you, but what am I?”…Until someone bludgeons the other in the head, or parental figure steps in and chastises us for our annoyance level, or we bore from the game, or truly SOMEONE grasps an answer, and we move on. Modern philosophers have opened new thoughts: they have opened our eyes to scrutinize, and yet have crippled us and taken away our crutches. Aristotle, Plato, Socrates, Aquinas…when did they have to grasp the earth in frustration and anguish believing that the very substance,“such stuff”, could be a projection of their minds and nothing more? How awful! How RIDICULOUS they would say! How many today can honestly admit that their daily lives have been affected due to the fact that they “have been awakened” to a matrix? Do we not attend our daily routine, that many so called coffee-house philosophers are obligated to cooperate with for the sake of sustenance and shelter, just as many individuals with different temperaments and seritonin levels? So MANY have told me that the ancients could not possibly have perceived the hoax…has modern man truly been equipped with a sturdier mental faculty then previously, or is it a premise we have the habit of accepting? It seems to me that modernity has simply decided to use one mode of reality for another. We are nearing the Age of Intelligence…why are we so handicapped to have to dispute the very foundations of reality? I find today, and C.S. Lewis has mentioned this, that many children unfortunately perceive subjectivism in all things, objective only in pure science. High school drop-outs, modern music, artists, journalists, comedians…in all areas of life you will find the most unlikely candidates discussing nihilism without being aware of what it is. They respond “Bless you” to the utterance of Nietzche. The awareness of subjectivism in our society has been assimilated with our developmental learning. “ The waterfall is beautiful”. Well, as 6th graders struggling over sentence structure, the very object of this sentence is discussed! “It all depends on how you see things.” Which has to do with mind perception. The rest of the class is spent where the children are allowed to diagram objects of their choice, as long as they diagram correctly. They are told “To make this fun, ‘The waterfall is made of Jell-O.’ (giggles)Now class, anything is possible…It doesn’t matter. It all depends on how you see things. The waterfall could be ugly. The waterfall…” I have been given grammatical instruction by very poor philosophers! Truth: The agreement of the mind with reality. Reality: That Which is really real =) ha ha Three modes of reality: Subjective: That which we perceive in or minds: thoughts, questions, emotions, etc. Objective: That which is outside ourselves and is unaffected by the mind. Intentional: Theories, Discussions…Philosophies, etc. Combination of subjective and objective. What we are doing right now!! Philosophy (know your etymology!): Study of knowledge:Wisdom ultimately… Belief: Determination of the mind and will. Every human being, whether they realize it or not, whether professional or your every-day Joe, IS a philosopher. Ontological thought circulates without the use of verbose philosophical vocabulary.Everyone desires to know and understand. I am glad this site exists for Reality…but hopefully someday our foundation will be sturdy, and Reality discussions will be guided meditations for beginners. No more fumbling with the foundations. I believe that true philosophers, however, that have extensive discussions on reality are like those that are given the Book of Truth, and discuss the medium of which the book is written, the texture of the bind, the seams, and fail to READ the context. It breaks my heart to see that happen. I am proud to call myself an amateur: I study the world around me out of LOVE. Everyone should be an amateur in that sense. Without love of your world, there is little reason to understand. So, to the philosophers who believe they know and understand a little more each day: help our world!! Making love consists of wrapping our bodies in shrink wrap and taking poisons. CHEESE comes in a CAN?!? Self esteem is so low girls buy WONDER-BRAS!! It is FASHIONABLE to be atheist. Art (etymology: ars “skill”)in our galleries are of CAMBELL’S SOUP LABELS!! Government…???… We have a rather large mess on our hands. I’m trying to pick up the broom myself. Anxorite@hotmail.com

I hear bells but nobody is at the door. Sand both is and was. As we age we worry better. (Ding)
I'm proud to say I have no idea what either of you is talking about.

STOP THAT!
Even if the world is a projection of our minds it doesn't make everything fake. Love is still real, emotions are still real. That which is important remains.
