#3 of 26 by benja on Sat Jul 13 12:58:49 1996:

Why do we need a God a created the universe?

#4 of 26 by robh on Mon Jul 15 13:30:05 1996:

We don't *need* one - the Universe is here, now, regardless
of whether there was a creator - then again, not everyone's
view of divinity includes "creator". I believe in many gods,
but I don't think any of them "created" me, or the universe.
My parents "created" me, which is enough of a problem. >8)

Re #4--but many people feel a psychological need, iof not a physical one, to
understand why everything exists and works the way it does.

#8 of 26 by robh on Tue Oct 8 16:09:54 1996:

Sounds to me like a very good reason to believe in your father's
own healing abilities, since there was no direct contact with God.
(BTW, did you mean "casualty" (victim) or "causality"? (having been
caused by))

#9 of 26 by zabito on Wed Oct 9 16:15:39 1996:

excuse me.....of course....causality......~~~!!

I am the new kid on the block but here goes nothin' ...or somethin'
or what ever ... If I understand the query the Quizor (great word eh? Is it
real or is it just a fabrication?) (You get the idea ...) is seeking evidence
of supernatural experiences ... I consider myself "Religious" well, not
really but I do believe in God 'in the EXTREME' ! I am also a magician and
I could create for you what you would have to agree is a supernatural
experience - the proper setting - the perfect props - you'd believe it was
supernatural. I don't believe the issue here is one of events but one of
relationship. The Living God wants to have relationship with you not shaking
beads or lighted incense. It is in this relationship that Gods supernatural
power will be manifested in your life - on a personal level - not on display
for the whole world. Only those with a personal relationship with Him will
ever get the full revelation of His Glory and Power - those without personal
relationship with the Living God are relagated to speculation at best. It
appears to me that you are looking for something real and there is nothing
more real than The Living God and a personal relationship with Him. But ...
wadoeyeno eh?

I didn't come across such situations in my life. But I do believe in so called
"Super natuaral Power". I named that power as "God". I heard a lot about the
miracles through my friends. But I don't want to mention them, because I don't
know whether they are guinine or not.

I'm going to take for granted, for the moment, that the leading theoretical
cosmologists have good reason to support their claims concerning the physical
universe and its origin. As limited as my knowledge of the Big Bang is, and
as completely ignorant of what caused it or what happened before it, as i am,
it still makes much more sense than a supreme omnipotent being snapping its
proverbial fingers, and instantly creating everything. Here's a question:Is
our universe infinite in size or finite in size, and how can you live with
either answer?

#13 of 26 by senna on Wed Nov 13 21:42:09 1996:

personally, I know for a fact that there's a God, a very personal God.
However, I kow that many people probably share this opinion without sharing
my view of God, and I'm not going to argue about whose God is the true one.
But I have exsperienced him, as well as about a hundred other men and middle
school boys 9don't ask)) in a spectacular manner. You had to be there,
really. It was a greeat experience. And nobody conjured anything up, nobody
was coerced or influenced (trust me, people who weigh over 200 pounds do not
fall backwards onto a solid flor without trying to catch themselves on their
own). That to me, if nothing else, is all the proof I need.

#14 of 26 by chelsea on Thu Nov 14 03:45:55 1996:

Well, that was easy now wasn't it?

#15 of 26 by hokshila on Fri Dec 6 00:02:25 1996:

I believe that the creator speaks to different groups in different
ways, the many faces of God if you will. The native americans would not have
understood Jesus, nor would the jews understood the Thunderbird. Our epistemic
condition and environment brings about this necessity.

#16 of 26 by ahtina on Thu Dec 19 09:40:39 1996:

Nope.. i can't think of an experience that would provide concrete proof of
the existence of a 'god'... but then what exactly is that entity we call
'god'?

#17 of 26 by hokshila on Fri Dec 20 20:18:09 1996:

Can't think of any concrete proof of love that I can offer you. I know that
love is real, for I have experienced love..and hate...and anger...and
itelligence, too. But there is no concrete proof that they exist. Oh well...
To me God is the one who set all things in motion, and to be in tune with that
force, one walks in harmony with all that is.

#18 of 26 by orinoco on Sun Dec 22 01:57:04 1996:

hokshila--wouldn't having felt love, hate, or anger, constitute proof that
they are possible?

#19 of 26 by rlawson on Sun Dec 22 14:35:19 1996:

Then again, asking someone to describe of define love, anger, etc.... you'd
come up with a few different answers and would they all be correct? Just a
thought.

Also, I have never seen 'concrete proof' of ANYTHING!

#20 of 26 by ahtina on Thu Jan 2 07:05:38 1997:

Exactly... emotions are so very personal... and relative too! If i can
experience anything consiously, it is proof enough for me.

#21 of 26 by elorin on Tue Aug 19 23:07:22 1997:

well i must say that my experiences with religion have never been as big as
i always expect them to be but i have felt god many times... i have been a
worryer all my life and yet i always have faith that things will turn out for
the best... that is one of the manifestations of my beliefs.... i also have
felt him on more specific instances... but it is like falling in love... it
is much different than it is on tv... it takes you by surprise to realize that
god created the world and told people all sorts of things about his
existenc...

#22 of 26 by glider07 on Thu Sep 18 23:49:10 1997:

I believe that humans have ascribed anything unknown or ununderstandeable
to being the manifestation of God. I mean anything beyond our power and
scope of knowledge has till date been described as Supernatural. Our
forefathers, who didn't know about rain, changes in seasons, etc. used
to ascribe these phenomena to God. Well, today we know the exact mechanisms
and causes of these phenomena and don't put it in he categories of Super
natural or that created by God. But, there remain thousands of mysteries of
naturewhich at the present times may appear supernatural but would be
dispelled with the advancement of science. But as our knowledge of Universe
and nature would never be complete wel would keep on believing in God.

I look at the different world religions today, and their perspective gods,
the same way I look at the ancient Greek, Roman, Myan, and Incan (to name a
few) gods. I hope some day you will join me.

#24 of 26 by void on Tue Jan 13 06:51:14 1998:

hmmm. isn't that somewhat like a religious person saying they hope
that someday you'll "see the light?" :)

#25 of 26 by rlawson on Wed Jan 14 11:34:46 1998:

<chuchle> :)

#26 of 26 by anitagn on Tue Oct 20 10:08:33 1998:

To believe in God and to have a personal relationship with Him is the real
taste of day-to-day life.
