What have we done so far , and what have the results been ?

Well, we've done some pretty heavy flier distribution, and we've made one TV
appearance.  We are listed in some internet list (where was that, power?)
we turn up semi-regularly at the JCC sale.  There's more--someone want to
finish filling in the details?

The results have been about 2.5 new users checking us out each day--10
from the TV appearance, many from hearing about us on mnet (?) and lots more
through word of mouth.  Although I'm not aware of anyone mentioning a
flyer as the source of their interest in GREX, I still think it's worth
keeping up, since it may act a stimulant to word of mouth and it does
make a handy way to get that phone number home.

Something we need--and I'm working on for lack of other (vocal) volunteers
is a brochure to be used in establishing out not-for-profit goals and
activities.

I have rechecked that price incidently--I can produce a set of 75 for about
$25--the price goes down to $22 per 75 if we get 400 or more.  I doubt that
it's worth the savings at this point.

Misti, where are you doing the copying?  Office Max is much cheaper than
Kinko's for volume stuff.  51-99 copies cost $.045, 100 and up cost $.03.
They charge and extra $.03 for color paper and and extra penny to do double
sided, rather than Kinko's $.05 per page image.

Wow!  thanks, Glenda!  That will save me quite alot of money in the long run.
Do you know whether that's "copies per image" or "total copies" prices?
For instance, if I got 35 copies of image one and 50 each of images two and 
three, would I get the price for 135 copies or for a 35 and two 50s?

I copy my newsletter, OnTour: The Newsletter for Bicycle Tourists, at
OfficeMax, and it is a great deal.  Unfortunately, I don't think you
get the cheaper rate only when you make 100 or more copies of one image.

Ick.  I dunno that I'd ever want 100 copies of any one flier.  We currently
have 6 of them--and I wouldn't want to make 600 copies at a time.

Oh well--the price still isn't too bad.

The price breaks are on one image.  They get cheaper than Kinko's as soon as
you print 51 copies, 26-50 copies is the same $.05 that Kinko's charges so if
you are doing more than 50 on any flyer it would be cheaper at Office Max,
if more so if, by chance, any flyer was double sided, since OM is and extra
penny for the second side rather than the full price as at Kinko's.  If you
have time to sit down with a calculator there is a point at which it becomes
actually cheaper to get 100 copies rather than the actual number you need
(I forget where that is since my number of copies for my newsletter dropped
below that point about 8 months ago).  They are very helpful (a good hint is
to ask if Beth is there, she's a friend of mine and knows the ins and outs
of the big machine like no one else there, if she is in that day she is
usually working behind that counter, she is rather short, a bit overweight
and has long, very dark hair which is usually tied back in a pony tail;
mention me).

Yes indeed.  Grex has more airplane pilots than any other system!

WEll, you could do xerox on plain paper, or you could go with actual brochure
type paper that's lasered.

I can get Grex color-gradiant paper for $10 for 100 sheets.  This would be
graduated from Blue at the top to Yellow at the bottom, or red at the top
to blue at the bottom.  There are other designs.  Then there as the
brochure papers from Paper Direct that cost $20 per 100.  These are 
full color papers that all you do is add your lasered text or graphics to.
I have a whole pile of samples if anyone wishes to see them.  They are
very nice, and will suit any taste.

Thanks, Pattie.

I've been showing Papers Direct stock around at Board Meetings.  So far the
reaction has been mixed--everything from  "Wow!"  enthusiasm to "Too
Madison Avenue" disinterest.

I've been using a couple of the letterhead and border designs for fliers
at my own expense, though--and those always get a good reaction.  ;)
