Grex Poetry Item 81: A Meditation on the Pavilion
Entered by remmers on Mon May 3 10:59:24 UTC 1999:

        They must've spent a million
        To build the pavilion
        And decorate it in vermilion
And I can think of a bazillion
Reasons why I don't want to go there.

what pavilion?

#2 of 27 by remmers on Mon May 3 16:36:29 1999:

It doesn't matter. There's no reason to go there.

Now, the conclusion in 2 doesn't follow from 0.

This is the poetry conference, not the logic conference.

*chuckle* thank you for reminding us that we're just irrational artists,

<bookworm laughs> That's just the kind of conversation I like to read.

If Plato is a person,
And every person dies,
then Plato will be dying,
No matter what he tries.

See, it can be both the logic conference *and* the poetry conference. =P

#8 of 27 by remmers on Thu May 6 09:47:52 1999:

Well yeah maybe, that is, if #7 can be considered poetry.

#9 of 27 by arianna on Thu May 6 17:21:02 1999:

you'r ein it, didn't you know? *g*
poetry cf is famous for its drift.
or it used ot be anyway... the drift may have rifted elsewhere, though, at
this point...

#12 of 27 by brighn on Sat May 8 01:58:24 1999:

#7 is as much poetry as #0 is.

#13 of 27 by arianna on Sat May 8 04:50:12 1999:

Oh no, I see it coming like a freight train -- "What is poetry" disussions,
I fear, mostly end up the way religion discussions do -- in quarrels.

#14 of 27 by remmers on Sat May 8 11:32:53 1999:

I won't participate in any such discussion, since I have no idea what
poetry is.

#15 of 27 by brighn on Sun May 9 15:33:23 1999:

Poetry is as poetry does
And life is like a box of chocolates...
somebody's taken a bite out of the yucky ones, and left them for you.

<Cricket quickly replaces the subject>

If poetry is what poetry does,
and I am what I am,
do I do poetry?

Pom tiddly pom.

I ponder on that pavilion
Packed with puffy poseurs
pretending to produce art
I propose it to be a possibility
not to probe its pretensiousness
nor to pander there for profit
nor pick a day to pop in for the curiousity

#26 of 27 by cloud on Fri Jun 4 00:51:49 1999:

I'll ponder that with purpose.
