Grex Poetry Item 8: "Terrified" (straight from my head toking) [linked]
Entered by toking on Thu Jan 28 01:11:22 UTC 1999:

and I'm sitting here
and its been such a wonderful day
so why do I feel
why am I so goddamned sure
that everythiung is falling again
like the strings that have heald me up
for these long months
thes strings that slowly drew me up
bit by broken bit
have finally snapped
dropping me back down
letting me fall again
and fear again
and scream like there's nothing else
because in the end
whjat else is there?
I AM NOT AFRAID
I AM NOT AFRAID
fear is for little boys
for when they learn
that they can die too!
I AM NOT AFRAID
I AM NOT AFRAID
i
   am
            terrified
not of crashing
smashing
breaking on the hard stone floor
but of falling and falling and falling
until the air rushes by too fast
to even catch a breath
and i suffocate inside this broken thing
when I can't even tell exactly what's broken
or who broke it
and I can't see it well enough to fix it!
I feel like I've snapped again
dropping me back down
letting me fall again
and fear again
and scream like there's nothing else
because in the end
whjat else is there?
I AM NOT AFRAID
I AM NOT AFRAID
fear is for little boys
for when they learn
that they can die too!
I AM NOT AFRAID
I AM NOT AFRAID
i
   am
            terrified

<hugs> i hope the terror in the poem becomes ecstasy. one time a friend
of mine told me that uncertainty was the moment between ecstasy aand despair.
I think the sensation of falling and losing track of stuff like this is like
that too... chances are the fear will change back to ecstaticness when the
adjustment is made from falling to floating ;)

Seconded. Sounds familiar. I have about four new poems that I've just
been dying to post. One of them is like that.
