So I'm walking right,
Just wandering down the road
Smelling the clean cold air
Feeling the crisp February breeze
There's nothing to satnd in my way
And she says to me
Pulls me aside and says
Where you gotta go?
Why you gotta walk that way?
Why you gotta be like this?
So I"m walking
Walking and thinking
And I keep walking
`Cause I know it's nothing to her
And I know how to walk
And running just ain't my thing
No this time
Or ever again
And she says to me
Where you going?
I don't answer
I just take your hand
And I walk
And I'm happy
`Cause I"m smiling
And holding your hand
And I don't need to know
Where my feet are leading me

It's the end part that does it, Joe.

"And I'm happy
'Cause I'm smiling
And holding your hand
And I don't need to know
Where my feet are leading me."

That holds volumes of meaning.

Well, I smell a little irony-- if the last part is sweet, then the rest 
is rather bitter.  Usually, when I'm walking away and saying nothing 
when a loved one pulls me aside, I'm trying not to deal with things-- 
and holding her hand makes her quiet for a while.

(not like I've done all that, but that's what I interpret).

Interesting twist.

The only reason that holding my hand makes me quiet is that I'm waiting 
for some kind of response from you.
