For some reason, I have a feeling I am asking for a bit much here, but
I figured it wouldn't hurt to ask. Does anyone know of a site out on the
'net where one could upload pictures, and lots of them, for free? Most places
seem to be severely limiting the space you can use now (doesn't surprise me
with the dot-bust era now.) I have upwards of 100MB of pictures, and wanted
to put them all online for viewing. Uploading is no problem, I have 128K
dedicated ISDN to my home LAN (which has a /27 subnet <g>) Would only take
a couple of hours to upload. The fun part is finding a place who's willing
(or dumb) enough to part with that much space... :)
Anyone know of such a place?

If you don't mind creating your own HTML pages, www.topcities.com offers 150 megabytes of space. No individual file can be larger than 900K, though.
I have created a public group at Flickr for us. http://www.flickr.com/groups/535217@N23/ The name of the group is "Cyberspace.org" and it is open to anyone for posting. You will need to have your own Flickr account (free) to upload your photos to, and then link them into the group gallery. http://www.flickr.com/ You can use this as a hosting site for images you want to display here (for example, in item 64 Post Your Favorite Photos).
Eprom found us! I've found charcat, tod, mary, remmers, and polygon at Flickr. If you know of anyone else with a flickr account, please let me or them know. I thought other had one, and I hope mcnally has one. what about the rest of you? denise? gull? ball? mcnally? other? PS anyone have an off-site email for other? His Grexmail account just bounced on me.
I need a 48x48 pixel logo for our group. The Grex logo is a very rectangular shape. Anyone got any ideas here for a group logo?
I also need a nickname for our group that can be used as the url for the group photo pool. Right now, cyberspace and grex are both available. Any other ideas?
I don't have a flickr account; I haven't learned yet how to upload anything. It's something that I just haven't gotten around to it, yet. I'll have to go see if I can find some of the above mentioned grexers on flickr, though. :-)
A free Photobucket account offers 1 GB of space for images and video clips. My slide show is at http://s111.photobucket.com/albums/n154/ranecurl/
The cyberspace.org group on Flickr now has a home page: http://www.flickr.com/groups/grex/ Looks like ball has joined us, as well. Rane, I switched from photobucket to flickr about a year and a half ago. Flickr has no limit on storage space and never deletes any photos. Has a number of other benefits, but that was the main one.
Whatever works for you.... I first heard of photobucket. I don't expect to ever reach 1 GB, and they don't delete photos either. However haven't been able to find how much memory I have used there, or don't know how.
YoyoDyne Gallery on Flickr I've created an invitation-only, public group with discussion threads readable, but images visible only to group members. Membership is by social validation. I have photos that I'd like to share with people I trust. Posting them with "public" viewing rights lets anyone who can find them download them if they are technically adept. I wanted the Grex group to be very open, but also wanted a way to share my better work in a slightly more secure fashion. For Yoyodyne: everyone can see the group exists, and everyone can read the discussions. Group members (only) can see the group photo pool. Membership requests have to be approved by an admin or a moderator. To see the Yoyodyne Gallery, join Yoyodyne, and include some identifying information in the body of the request. I'll approve your request to join as soon as possible. If you want to show someone your photos there, send me flickr mail with their flickr userID. I'll approve their request as soon as I get both. This is a group that can, and will, be moderated. Kindergarten rules apply.
denise: "I don't have a flickr account; I haven't learned yet how to upload anything. It's something that I just haven't gotten around to it, yet." You can use flickr to view photos without ever uploading one of your own. Many families create private groups for things like Thanksgiving dinners, or weddings or whatever. A few people can upload their photos, and the rest can just enjoy the pictures.
We now have a chatroom on Flickr. Advantages? We can bring up photos and share them while we discuss them. <a href="http://www.photophlow.com/flickr/group/grex"><img alt="photophlow badge" height="50" src="http://badgeimg.photophlow.com/group/grex/signature.png" width="240" /></a>
Well, go to the Cyberspace.org Flickr group, and click on the link there. The Chat API is in beta, so there's room for us to make suggestions about new functionalities. The beta for this is better than the 1.0 releases I've seen from some places, so join right in.
Here's the Flickr link: http://www.flickr.com/groups/grex/
