This fall, I am driving to Death Valley, then zig-zagging back through Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico, & Possibly Texas. The "excuse" for this trip is photography. If anyone has recommendations for stopping points, I would work them in if possible. One place I plan to hit is Oatman, Arizona which has been described to me as an occupied ghost-town (some people in it) but just about the most picture-perfect old west town imaginable. We'll see. I also plan to hit Rozwell, N.M. just for kicks. Everything else is an open agenda.

The Arizona Desert Museum; Caverns of Sonora; over the White Mountains (trees in Arizona!); Sunset Crater (Nat. Mon., I think); Boulder Dam - and swim in the Colorado a little ways below it..... I could go on but...
Keep going! The only one you mentioned that I had targeted was Boulder Dam. I believe the Arizona Desert Museum is a "must see" but I had forgotten that one. Thanks.
Carlsbad Caverns bat flight (skip the cave in favor of C of Sonora); Meteor Crater (best in your imagination of the event); Petrfied Forest; ... somewhere out there you might find an Indian reservation that is welcoming but not touristic, where you will be greeted as a wandered, and not as a bilfold.
Well, I got my photos back - I took just under 200 and about 80-100 are "showable". Not bad.
