I am 17 and have a child that Jayne and I named Harry James.  We did not plan
to have children at this age, but as you all should know, contraceptives don't
always work.  We are npw going to stay together an get married as soon as it's
legal (in Australia, the male has to be 18, and the female has to be 16.  why
are the ages different?). We don't believe in abortion, and besides, it looks
too painfull!  So we now have a child.  We are both living with our respective
parents at the moment, but as soon as I earn enough money, I will get us a
place of our own.  I was chronically depressed at the start of the year, and
this is one of the main things that pulled me out of it.

If anyone else is in the same situation, (I am one of about 6 i know
personally) respond here, and I may be able to give you some helpfull hints.

Dino1, it sounds like your child "chose" loving, caring, responsible parents,
even if you might not have chosen to begin so young.  
How old is your son?
Are there no exceptions to the marriage laws when there is parental consent?

Harry is six weeks old today.
The only way to get married when under the legal age is to get a court order.
They cost about $A50 to apply for, and another $A10 if accepted, and we are
trying to save as much money as possible at the moment.

Awwwww.  2 months is a yummy, cuddly time, with the beginnings of lots of eye
contact and responsiveness.  4 months is even more fun, although teething
might begin by then- grabbing for things, purposeful cooing, trying to roll
over.  It's not too early to  begin diagonal limb-patterning to assist later
crawling, and lots of language ("move your arm, now your leg.  Where's your
nose? -daddy's nose, baby's nose" etc.) and having him mimic you sticking out
your tongue (to help him find and control the part of his body over which he
has most control thus far).

Um, is that fifty dollars and ten dollars?  Doesn't seem too high, will your
parents help?  For all of me, I'd certainly encourage the two of you in any
way I could, if I were your parent.
