Here are a few questions of interest regarding day-care:

What is most important to you when choosing a day care (explain):
1. location.
2. safety / security.
3. cost.
Do you have children in day-care presently?
If so, is it closer to work or to home?  How old is/are the child(ren)?
Who referred you (freind, relative, advertisement...)?

Number 1 priority is definitely safety and a warm, caring environment.
After that comes Cost (in my opinion.)  You should go for something that
you'll be able to afford in rough times since that's the last time when a
wee one needs disruption.  ("What do you mean, you can't afford to send
me to see Karin?  Wasn't she taking care of me 'cause she *likes* me?)
After that comes my convenience--though close enough to home or work
to be feasible even if I'm running late is a good idea.

My kids are too olde to need day care anymore--both are pre-adolescents.
If I ever have another baby, though, I'll ask CCRS and everyone I know 
whose parenting style is similar to mine and who has kids at daycare.
Rudolph Steiner moms would be a good start...

Child Care Referral Service

CCCRS (Child Care Coordinating and Referral Service) has since moved and
changed names: now Child Care Network.  They're now in the new building on
North Main - where the scrapyard used to be. (by all those RR tracks)
CCN is a great resource for all families with children in child care - but
families with financial problems will be especially glad they called...
