Grex Oldrpg Item 82: Starr Fleet Battles
Entered by matthew on Sun Dec 31 18:54:42 UTC 1995:

A subject near and dear to my heart, Star Fleet Battles. Not really an
RPG, but then some of the other items here are not rpgs either. Does
anyone still play this game ?

this is a computer game?

There are probabaly computer versions somehwere, but this one is a
tabel top board game. You lay out a hax map and move your counters around
the board. You have seperate sheets to keep track of your shios
systems and damage taken. It's a rather complicated game and can take
some time to play, but it's lots of fun !

o man, to many rules are a bad thing

It has a basic and advanced rule book and then several modules that add onto
the game.

still too many rules makes the game boring

I guess it depends on how much a fan of the game you are. I don't find
it boring. Some of the most 'exciting' conversations we used to have
were 'discussions' regarding the rules. (That translates as very heated
debates over rules and errata contradictions, such things have been fixed in
the most recent addition of the rules.)
