Grex Oldrpg Item 73: Little people
Entered by eldrich on Thu Nov 9 22:40:42 UTC 1995:

Question: Do any of you people have lil' brothers or sister or just
little people who role-play? My little brother is trying to find some
people to pplay with and I thought I'd help him find some.

My little brother (age 13) plays...my friend's little brother (11?) plays too.

If I were nearby...
But I live not in Ann Arbor any more.

Though I once played at an all ages role-playing session.
(actually, that's pretty much what RPSIG is)

my little brother might be interested

#4 of 31 by orinoco on Sat Nov 11 02:48:49 1995:

evan, age 10, might be interested, but he might find your bro a bit
young.

#5 of 31 by eldrich on Sun Nov 12 01:34:55 1995:

Yeah, I figured as much.

#6 of 31 by starwolf on Tue Nov 14 16:46:48 1995:

I promised my little nephew I'd teach him to play when he can read the books
by himself.

#7 of 31 by bjorn on Tue Nov 14 22:34:52 1995:

How old is he presently?

#8 of 31 by starwolf on Wed Nov 15 18:38:02 1995:

10

#9 of 31 by bjorn on Wed Nov 15 21:14:21 1995:

He's ten, hmm? And let's see, AD&D books are written at 4th grade reading
level (as well as any other book for that matter)

#10 of 31 by jamie on Wed Nov 15 21:59:53 1995:

I've tried to teach my sister (9) how to play, but she says "I'm bored" and
walks out in the middle of adventures, so I've decided to not try to teach
anyone that age....except my cousins would probably be willing to learn soon.

#11 of 31 by orinoco on Fri Nov 17 14:11:30 1995:

many kids that age would rather *have* adventures than talk about imaginary
ones.

#12 of 31 by kain on Sat Nov 18 03:32:04 1995:

true. Makes you think we lost somthing. When your little you have a lot more
imagination now we settle for AD&D

#13 of 31 by orinoco on Sat Nov 18 18:35:34 1995:

no, good roleplaying requires more imagination than running around and
pretending that sticks are guns

#14 of 31 by starwolf on Tue Nov 21 16:19:03 1995:

True..and in Role-playing, you can enter situations that kids either wouldn't
think of or shouldn't know about...;}

It's annoying when siblings take up the same interests as you, think they know
it all. |:-(

#16 of 31 by kain on Fri Nov 24 04:45:24 1995:

your telling me :-d)

#17 of 31 by orinoco on Fri Nov 24 21:10:42 1995:

no, he's telling me :-L8^h,!~)

#18 of 31 by eldrich on Fri Nov 24 21:30:19 1995:

Is it just me or is that smilie blowing chunks?!

#19 of 31 by kain on Sat Nov 25 01:05:45 1995:

yup

#20 of 31 by jamie on Sun Nov 26 14:38:21 1995:

I hate that...siblings taking your interests, that is...my brother is right
in the stage where he tries to do everything exactly like me.....but he hasn't
made the mistakes that led up to my acting the way I do, and he does really
badly at it...kind of like a bad satire of me.

#21 of 31 by kain on Sun Nov 26 15:44:22 1995:

scary, I hate my brotehr, he lives to annoy me

#22 of 31 by bjorn on Sun Nov 26 15:54:59 1995:

Sounds like one of my cousins who uses my bad attitude as a role-model added
to his priding himself on being annoying. Even kicking the crap out of him
did not help. It's not like I'm *trying* to be a role-model, verily I was
trying *not* to be a role model when I lived in Iowa.

#23 of 31 by kain on Sun Nov 26 20:27:16 1995:

i know the feeling

#24 of 31 by eldrich on Sun Nov 26 22:59:17 1995:

Very...

#25 of 31 by jamie on Sun Nov 26 23:21:04 1995:

Yeah, my parents contend that I'm a role-model for my sibs, so any bad
attitude they have must be gotten from me, and various other stuff...
I don't want to be a role-model though....

#26 of 31 by bjorn on Sun Nov 26 23:32:11 1995:

The only role-model I do enjoy being is an Eagle scout (w/ gold palm) in the
B.S.A. That's as far as being a role-model goes for me.

#27 of 31 by jamie on Mon Nov 27 00:01:41 1995:

I tried being a boy scout....hated it, though.

#28 of 31 by bjorn on Mon Nov 27 01:28:28 1995:

So did I- I was never permitted to perform my troop job (except when I was
quartermaster for troop 4).

#29 of 31 by kain on Mon Nov 27 22:26:00 1995:

what exacdtly was your troop job?

#30 of 31 by bjorn on Tue Nov 28 03:46:17 1995:

I think it was something like this in troop 4; Librarian then Quartermaster.
None in troop 23. Troop Guide in troop 7.

#31 of 31 by jamie on Mon Mar 4 21:21:41 1996:

I sorta thought that there were way too many rules and ceremonies, and they
were too set in their requirements and procedures.....a little too yellow, if
you ask me....(Referring to the "True Colours" personality test, if anyone
has heard of it...)
