Hello! I love RPGs of all sorts and am new on GREX. Some of my favorites
are: Final Fantasy III, Final Fantasy II, Secret of Mana, Chrono Trigger, and
generally anything by Square Soft. I'll bet some of you out there know me

I've played D&D, am sort-of in the process of making a Rifts World character,
and would like to start playing AD&D, but don't know where to start.

#6 of 109 by orinoco on Sat Nov 4 01:30:53 1995:

well, this .cf's as good as any coyote...

#7 of 109 by eldrich on Sat Nov 4 15:49:38 1995:

How much dice rolling is there in D&D? That's the one big problem I have with
AD&D, that and constantly looking up stuff, and there's always the lack of
players. <sigh>

#8 of 109 by kain on Sat Nov 4 17:22:27 1995:

yup

#9 of 109 by coyote on Sat Nov 4 19:54:31 1995:

there is a fair amount of dice rolling in D&D. You roll your character, roll
for battles, roll for initiative, roll for surprise, roll for wandering
monsters, roll for morale etc.

Doesn't sound too far removed to me.

#11 of 109 by setzer on Sun Nov 5 19:02:18 1995:

Is there a chance that we could have one in chat? It'd go a lot quicker
and smoother that way.

#12 of 109 by coyote on Sun Nov 5 21:12:00 1995:

have a what?

#13 of 109 by eldrich on Mon Nov 6 21:06:55 1995:

Game.
Hey coyote, are there any other role-players in @ Emerson eg non 8th?

#14 of 109 by starwolf on Tue Nov 7 18:10:39 1995:

If you like simple game systems with only one type of dice, try Star Wars or
Storyteller (Vampire/Werewolf/Mage/Changeling/Wraith<barf>)

Whaddya mean there's a shortage of players? Do what I do...grab one of your
best friends and say "you WILL come, you WILL play, and if you don't like it,
then it's your turn to choose what game we play next time" It works!

/es

#17 of 109 by coyote on Wed Nov 8 03:53:54 1995:

Maybe we could set up a chat game... First, we need somebody to DM. Then,
we need times that people can come.

#18 of 109 by jamie on Wed Nov 8 20:58:59 1995:

Ugh...I'll be hard to find a time when very many of us can be on.

#19 of 109 by eldrich on Wed Nov 8 22:02:49 1995:

VERY hard. Hmmm I need maybe one more competent player and I could get a good
sized game going. Fun.

#20 of 109 by kain on Wed Nov 8 22:11:04 1995:

yup

#21 of 109 by bjorn on Thu Nov 9 03:31:18 1995:

I only have one problem with adventure via chat: Long distance phone call.

#22 of 109 by jamie on Thu Nov 9 23:28:04 1995:

Well, if you give me some good notice, and do it on a weekend, I can probable
make it...I'll try, at least.

#23 of 109 by orinoco on Sat Nov 11 02:44:20 1995:

If everybody can agree on a time, i would gladly dm.

#24 of 109 by eldrich on Sun Nov 12 01:28:11 1995:

U got a adventure ready? If not I've got one.

#25 of 109 by kain on Sun Nov 12 14:58:43 1995:

howbout 1:00 on saturdays
or maybe 3:30 on fridays

#26 of 109 by coyote on Sun Nov 12 15:27:58 1995:

saturday time okay, but friday I'm busy until around 4:15

#27 of 109 by kain on Sun Nov 12 23:03:51 1995:

howbout saturday at one everyone?

#28 of 109 by jamie on Mon Nov 13 02:54:15 1995:

Saturdays at one sounds good right now...when do we start? Next week? Who's
DMing? And what restrictions on characters?

#29 of 109 by orinoco on Tue Nov 14 02:42:19 1995:

I'm afraid I'll have to withdraw my offer to DM

#30 of 109 by eldrich on Tue Nov 14 23:33:07 1995:

I'll DM but I'm not sure about the date. Most likely this sat. or next. Let me
see... Magic is going to be strange (my own system), as far as priests go it's
normal exsept U need to make up a god (backround would be nice), no druids, not
specialist mages, first level, multiclassing is okay. Can I have a list of
people who are thinking about coming?

#31 of 109 by bjorn on Wed Nov 15 15:40:41 1995:

<raises his hand>

#32 of 109 by eldrich on Wed Nov 15 21:49:05 1995:

I was thinking off line.
<Eldrich surches for his wand of teleportation

#33 of 109 by jamie on Wed Nov 15 21:54:53 1995:

I might be able to come...but I doubt it. I'm running a game either Saturday
afternoon or evening, so I'd have to quit early if I could come at all.

#34 of 109 by orinoco on Fri Nov 17 14:05:51 1995:

I am currently starved for real-time gaming, and will try to get involvet
whatever the time and place

#35 of 109 by kain on Sat Nov 18 03:24:45 1995:

I'll be there

#36 of 109 by eldrich on Sun Nov 19 00:44:27 1995:

Who else? I might be able to do it on sunday if that works out for other people

#37 of 109 by jamie on Sun Nov 19 00:51:16 1995:

Sunday's work for me...when do we satrt and who is the DM?

#38 of 109 by eldrich on Sun Nov 19 22:05:37 1995:

We would start maybe this weekend (Due to convenient Thanksgiving break),
either that or the weekend after that. I would DM. What works for U people?

#39 of 109 by eldrich on Sun Nov 19 22:15:25 1995:
