I don't want to seem rude, but I really haven't been waiting for this
item. I'm waiting impatiently for the GAME. That's still a couple of
weeks or so away, and they'll (whoever "they" are) probably want $80 for
it. Grrr.

#2 of 91 by setzer on Mon Aug 7 15:02:08 1995:

Yup. Isn't it easier and cheaper to just rent it for a week
and beat it?

#3 of 91 by starwolf on Mon Aug 7 16:43:17 1995:

Or wait a bit longer & buy it used for about 1/2 to 1/4 original price...

What I'll probably do is wait till it gets to the discount stores, like
Target. With any luck, I should be able to get it new for $50-$60.

i haven't heard very much about this game, except about the endings, so like,
could you people fill me in on a few details? like what system, or anything
else interesting...

I can't claim to know much about it, but it's from Square, and it's been
getting nothing but praise from those familiar with the Japanese version.
Need I say more? Well, I will anyway. Here's the hype on CT, directly
from Nintendo:

The 32-meg Chrono Trigger utilizes time travel, science-fiction, and
fantasy adventure to create one of the best role-playing games ever. The
game's hero, Chrono, is transported into the past and ends up altering the
course of history, and with it the outcome of the future. The integral time
travel element of the game enables players to alter the game by changing
the past, giving players multiple endings and excellent repeat game value.
There are mini-quests, a huge cast of characters, realistic time travel,
non-linear game play, and more active and interactive battle scenes than
Squaresoft's 1994, highly acclaimed, role-playing game Final Fantasy III.

By the way, we've figured out by now that you're "JimBob". Please stop
including the sig-like stuff in your responses. Thanks.

Can you change the Hero's name?

Thank you *very* much.

#11 of 91 by junkie on Thu Aug 24 02:52:15 1995:

I heard that the Jap version on Chrono Trigger is already out, and that the
US version will be out in Oct under a different name, has anyone else heard
similar rumors?

#12 of 91 by jsr on Thu Aug 24 12:10:01 1995:

No, the story I'm seeing in the newsgroups is that Chrono Trigger was
just released in the US this week. I haven't checked this, but if I
were to do so, the first place I'd try is Babbages.

#13 of 91 by junkie on Sat Aug 26 02:46:43 1995:

#14 of 91 by starwolf on Sat Aug 26 17:41:41 1995:

price comes down.

#20 of 91 by jsr on Wed Aug 30 12:16:29 1995:

Going the used route can save a bunch of $$$. I'm always afraid of
ending up with an incomplete package (such as no instruction booklet),
though.

#21 of 91 by kain on Thu Aug 31 02:57:54 1995:

it doesn't suck.

#30 of 91 by kain on Sun Sep 10 00:55:54 1995:

take my word it doesn't!

#31 of 91 by junkie on Sun Sep 10 02:06:11 1995:

Best Buy and snatched one up. Now if only I can find some time to play it...

#33 of 91 by starwolf on Tue Sep 12 15:43:12 1995:

If you can't, I'd be willing to take it off your hands for a while...remove
a distraction or something like that ;}

#34 of 91 by jsr on Wed Sep 13 12:52:52 1995:

#36 of 91 by starwolf on Thu Sep 14 15:17:43 1995:

It's official: CHRONO TRIGGER KICKS BUTT!
btw, anybody know a way to get a *not guilty* verdict in the trial?

#37 of 91 by jsr on Thu Sep 14 17:44:37 1995:

I got a not guilty in my first (and only) trial. 5 to 1 was the vote.
Didn't matter, the judge tossed me in the slammer, anyway! I don't
recall doing anything out of the ordinary to get the not guilty verdict.

#38 of 91 by junkie on Fri Sep 15 00:40:46 1995:

Heh heh...sounds like the juditial system in chrono trigger is corupt

#39 of 91 by kain on Fri Sep 15 02:42:20 1995:

well here's what to do, step 1 when you bump into marle talk to her beofre
getting pendant, then give it back to her, step 2 find cat, return cat to girl,
step 3, DO NOT, eat the guys lunch, sell the pendat, step 3 let marle browse at
candy store <the previous was a do not a don't> step 4 when judge asks you who
started this mess, say I did. then wehn the chancelor askes you if her fortune
tempted you say no both times, then you should get all not guiltys, however
you'll still be in the slammer. <aka> as far as I can tell it's non-avoidable>
Need help anywhere else?
