Yeah, here's one that comes to mind:

                dragon.mbhs.edu/music/sampled/FinalFantasy3

There's a lot of music at this site, but it's all in iff format.
It took me a while to decode it.

As for you web surfers, try:

                http://www.mbhs.edu/~achurch/
                http://www.computek.net/public/andrewv/square.html
                http://ucsub.colorado.edu/~nakao/fftown.html

I know I've got some more, but I'll have to look em up

Try Usenet of Trumpet, they've got some stuff like that. Grex is off Usenet,
but if it comes back on you can subscribe to the FF thingidoo.

Oh yeah, fred.net is another one, but you'll have to poke around for
the stuff. I don't remember where it is...

#4 of 49 by setzer on Wed Jun 21 21:19:45 1995:

I know this doesn't have much to do with ftp sites, but does anybody
know where I can get my own home page without having to pay a fee?
I'm gonna set up one with all sorts of stuff to download and a
bunch of other cool stuff.

#5 of 49 by kain on Thu Jun 22 13:45:10 1995:

fred.net/pub has some really cool sstuff in it!

Another good web page for SNES: http://sbh.cse.bris.ac.uk/Nintendo.html

#7 of 49 by kain on Fri Jun 23 14:40:44 1995:

#8 of 49 by kain on Sun Jun 25 01:50:26 1995:

??

#9 of 49 by jsr on Mon Jun 26 13:11:49 1995:

If you're talking about Nintendo's own official home page, no. I
think it's at http://www.nintendo.com/. It's OK, but not great.

#10 of 49 by kain on Mon Jun 26 13:31:58 1995:

yeah I kknnow..

#11 of 49 by setzer on Sat Jul 1 15:39:13 1995:

I'm planning on setting up my own home page on the WWW, but I
need to find a host. Any suggestions.

#12 of 49 by kain on Sun Jul 2 18:57:37 1995:

pegasus or umich.

#13 of 49 by jsr on Mon Jul 17 14:27:19 1995:

Wanna work in Japan? Even if you don't you should check out Square's
Web page at http://www.spin.ad.jp/square/

#14 of 49 by kain on Wed Jul 19 15:10:00 1995:

that's the official square page, it really has no info or anything I like the
unofficial square page better

#15 of 49 by jsr on Thu Jul 20 13:40:40 1995:

I agree with you, but I kinda liked the job postings (don't ask me why...)

#16 of 49 by kain on Thu Jul 20 13:43:30 1995:

I'd definatly consider working for square when I get a bit older

#17 of 49 by jsr on Fri Jul 21 13:22:37 1995:

Yeah, I know what you mean. I'll bet it'd be a BIG plus if you knew
some Japanese, when you get around to applying for a job there.

#18 of 49 by setzer on Sat Jul 22 19:34:34 1995:

It'd be pretty cool working at Square!

#19 of 49 by kain on Sun Jul 23 02:59:51 1995:

I'd like to be either a translator or a programer or best of all A
PLAYTESTER!!!!!! but I think I'd prove most valuable as a translater.

#20 of 49 by jsr on Mon Jul 24 12:48:12 1995:

Good translation is important. I think Square does pretty well with this
now, though some of their earlier efforts (FFII comes to mind) were a little
weak in this aspect.

#21 of 49 by setzer on Tue Jul 25 16:19:08 1995:

The thing that pisses me off the most is how parts of the original
game get taken out. Like in FF2, there's supposed to be a special
quest where you go and find the basilisk's eye to cure the twins
from stone. Nintendo takes out a bunch of the cool stuff.

#22 of 49 by starwolf on Wed Jul 26 15:18:01 1995:

Like in the Japanese version of Cybernator, at the end, the enemy commander
commits suicide rather than be captured. Or in FF2, the dancing girl takes
her clothes off (graphic isn't worth the effor, but the thought counts)

#23 of 49 by setzer on Wed Jul 26 16:26:28 1995:

Too bad you can't by the Japanese version. Sure, you couldn't read
a word the were saying, but at least you'd know that you've got
the entire game.

#24 of 49 by kain on Wed Jul 26 20:31:44 1995:

is chorono trigger out yet?

#25 of 49 by jsr on Thu Jul 27 12:41:39 1995:

I think the Japanese version is out, but the port to English isn't due
to be out till September. At least that's the latest gossip I heard.

#26 of 49 by kain on Thu Jul 27 23:16:30 1995:

I heard recently that it was august 21st

#27 of 49 by starwolf on Mon Jul 31 15:20:53 1995:

God I wish I could read Japanese....

#28 of 49 by setzer on Mon Jul 31 15:53:34 1995:

It would be nice!

#29 of 49 by kain on Sun Aug 27 03:04:31 1995:

just a little helpful, I think I'll start taking it in school.

#30 of 49 by setzer on Tue Aug 29 20:37:43 1995:

What again? I forgot about this item.

#31 of 49 by kain on Sun Dec 31 18:18:57 1995:

re#30 knowing japenese we were talking about how cool it would be to work at
square.

Does anyone else know any really cool ftp sites or newsgroups for rpg hints?

#32 of 49 by setzer on Wed Jan 3 21:17:51 1996:

I think this is right. Try the newsgroup:

        rec.games.video.nintendo

Or something like that.
BTW: Does anybody know a site that gives free usenet access that works?

#33 of 49 by jsr on Thu Jan 4 15:37:31 1996:

rec.games.video.nintendo is indeed the newsgroup. As for free usenet
access, I think ecsdg.lu.se works. But this is a foreign server, so
it probably isn't going to perform very fast. msu.edu and sdsu.edu
both offer gopher-based usenet access. It's pretty crude, but it's
better than nothing. It also works from a WWW browser. I don't have
any more details handy, but if you're interested, I can find out.

#34 of 49 by setzer on Fri Jan 5 22:35:12 1996:

What I'd like to be able to do is download programs from
alt.binaries and comp.binaries.ibm.pc At first
I was using pubgopher.msu.edu, but it's USENET files are down
right now. I tried those telnet addresses you listed (jsr),
but no luck. I need a login for ecsdg.lu.se, and sdsu.edu
is a San Diego phone directory. No connection through msu.edu.
I'm trying to get my account at Detroit FreeNet back up, but
I lost my password. Any other ideas?

#35 of 49 by jsr on Mon Jan 8 15:14:53 1996:

Yeah, the sdsu.edu and msu.edu addresses are incomplete. I'll have
to look up the full names. Pubgopher.msu.edu may have been one of them.
I don't think San Diego State University (sdsu.edu) carries alt groups,
so that one may be no good for you anyway. I'll see what I can find out
for you.

#36 of 49 by kain on Tue Jan 9 21:27:31 1996:

does anyone know of a place that gives free WWW acces or gopher acces?

#37 of 49 by coyote on Fri Jan 12 02:32:22 1996:

Heh. I wish.

#38 of 49 by jsr on Fri Jan 12 18:12:54 1996:

All of the news sites I've found require some sort of newsreader, web
browser or gopher to access them. None of them allow you log in directly,
at least not for free. There just aren't very many Grexes in the world.

#39 of 49 by gandalf on Sun Jan 14 05:19:15 1996:

I've ot a news reader...
