Entered by kain on Sun May 14 23:22:27 UTC 1995:

I thought it was about time that we learned a bit more about eachother as long
as we sit here and talk rpgs we may as well know a bit about eachother what our
favorite books are, etc What are your favorite RPGS do you mostly play D&D
related stuff or do you like video games better I also put this in so new
people could learn a bit more about us so lets hear it!

My personal interest is the video games, and since I own only the SNES and
NES systems, my interest is limited to those platforms. To a more
limited extent, I have an interest in computer gaming. I'm also likely
to be the oldest member of this conference -- just TRY to guess my age,
but I'll never tell (heh, heh).

#2 of 55 by phreakus on Tue May 16 17:11:07 1995:

Favorite RPGs: AD&D(No rules lawyers need apply)
Star Wars (I was at Endor!)
Storyteller (Vampire/Werewolf/Mage)
Twilight 2000 (Ask me about the Presidential Assasination)
Mechwarrior (only played twice :( )
Ars Magica (Go Order of Hermes!)
Robotech (adapted to Star Wars system-long story)
And anything new, unusual, and easily learned. (Synnibarr players stay away
from me)

#3 of 55 by setzer on Tue May 16 21:17:13 1995:

I personally like almost any type of rpg's, except I try to stay
away from one's that attempt to mix magic and technology because
they usually don't do a very good job of it. I've also been
playing Magic for quite a while, but I'm mostly a collector now.
Any of that kind of stuff is cool, just the whole idea of
dragons and castles and stuff rulez!

Kewl! Speaking of name changes, does anybody know how I can transfer
all my conference material to my new login? (E.G. buffers, login messages,
that cool file that says what items you've read so you don't have to read them
over again)

Sorry I haven't been on in so long! Technical problems.

#21 of 55 by gandalf on Wed Sep 13 20:30:50 1995:

**An elderly-looking man wearing dark blue robes strides in, acting as if
he owns the place. Holding his staff in one hand, he walks slowly
toward the table where the group of fabled rpg-ers are seated, talking
about whatever happens to come up. He takes the vacant seat next to their
Fair-witness, Kain. You can't place a name with him, but you're
sure you've seen him somewhere. Then, he pulls a deck of playing cards
out of one of the many pockets in his cloak and silently deals everyone
into a game of poker. It's him, the one that was sent to rule
after Setzer the Wandering Gambler left so many weeks ago. He's so
different, yet so much like the previous one. Maybe it is him, but
no one has any reason to ask...**

Behold, Gandalf-The Eternal Wizard|Traveler of Time and Space!!!

#22 of 55 by starwolf on Thu Sep 14 15:13:47 1995:

AAAAAACCCCCCCKKKKKKKKK!!!

#23 of 55 by orinoco on Thu Sep 14 19:25:50 1995:

gandalf--are you taking over setzer's character, or making yer own

#24 of 55 by jamie on Thu Sep 14 21:49:26 1995:

Whoo-hoo! Gandalf....personally, I like Merlin much better. Especially the
Merlin in Fred Saberhagan's _Merlin's Bones_.

#25 of 55 by kain on Fri Sep 15 02:37:48 1995:

really should i put you on the fw list? are you setzer or not?

#26 of 55 by matthew on Fri Sep 15 13:41:11 1995:

RE: #20 If you can still access the files under the old login
I think all you need to do is copy them to the home directory under
the new login. I'd suggest you check the INfo conference for more
detailed information.

#27 of 55 by setzer on Sun Sep 24 19:11:41 1995:

Yes, he is me and I am him. Kain, how do I make him an official FW?

#28 of 55 by bjorn on Wed Sep 27 13:11:09 1995:

My Role-playing preference is Advanced Dungeons & Dragons since I have been
with it on both sides of the table for 12 years. I am beginning to play
Vampire (Sabbat) and Werewolf. I enjoy video games, but no longer have much
time for them. My favourite books are series: The New Adventures of Doctor
Who, All AD&D Related Novels, The Death Gate Cycle, and any non-Classical
"mythology".

My Role-playing library is worht well over $800.00, and that is excluding
dice. I will give any RPG a try. I've had only one encounter with Rifts
and Battlelords.

#29 of 55 by kain on Thu Sep 28 02:07:33 1995:

setzer: I don't want pseudo fw's either take setzer off and put him on or
don't put him on

#30 of 55 by orinoco on Thu Sep 28 20:01:35 1995:

<orinoco wonders how much bjorn's dice are worth>

#31 of 55 by bjorn on Thu Sep 28 20:13:50 1995:

raise my total to exactly 900.41, still excluding dice. I don't know.
The only dice I included were my glow in the dark dice, and my alignment
dice, I guess the rest (about 50) are worth about $30.00.

#32 of 55 by jamie on Sat Sep 30 17:17:30 1995:

Wow....are you figuring "suggested retail price" (grrr...too high, in my
opinion) only, or are you including inflation and all that junk, too?

#33 of 55 by bjorn on Sat Sep 30 19:51:14 1995:

What they cost me at the time I bought them, so inflation does figure
in. And after shipping that book to you, it has been lowered somewhat.

#34 of 55 by orinoco on Sun Oct 1 20:55:08 1995:

for what it's worth, drizzt is a dwarf

#35 of 55 by bjorn on Sun Oct 1 20:59:51 1995:

I always thought he was a Drow... o well, my mistake.

#36 of 55 by orinoco on Mon Oct 2 23:21:10 1995:

Hm? oh, well, I guess I shouldn't argue with $900.41 in RPG stuff when I
haven't even read dragonlance...

#37 of 55 by bjorn on Tue Oct 3 01:07:51 1995:

Mayhap not.

#38 of 55 by jamie on Wed Oct 4 20:59:30 1995:

Uh, orinoco, Drizzt is in the Forgotten Realms books, not Dragonlance. He is a
renegade drow elf ranger.

#39 of 55 by bjorn on Wed Oct 4 22:06:31 1995:

Yep. I knew that already, I was just playing dumb. Worked good,
didn't it?
