Grex Oldrpg Item 34: Computer RPG's
Entered by setzer on Mon May 1 21:03:49 UTC 1995:

Here it is. We needed a new item, so I took the liberty of making
one myself. There aren't any good nintendo rpg's out right now,
so let's hear about some for computers. Post your feelings,
tips, questions and comments here about the best games out there
today. (Myst, King's Quest, etc...)

myst, good game, to easy though, kings quest, never played it, Arthur! awsome
rpg, best one for the computer I've ever played! Doom (if you can call it an
rpg) I was not highly impressed with.

What? Doesn't anybody play computer games any more? I know I've been
playing a lot lately. What are your opinions on these?

Space Quest 6-I just bought it recently, and the humor alone pays for
the cost. It's animation and narration are great, too!

Phantasmagoria-Awesome effects and great acting! It might scare the
sh** out of you, but it's definently worth it!

The TSR Collection-I guess SSI packaged up all of their RPGs and they're
now selling for $30. Is anything in there any good?

Torin's Passage-I haven't played this one yet, but it looks like another
winner from Sierra. The imagination of a tolkien series
with the humor of Al Lowe (Leisure Suit Larry).

Come on, people! Keep this item alive!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I haven't played much of anything on my computer lately except that oldie,
Nethack. Whenever I mention Nethack, I feel like I have to apologize for
its ASCII graphics. But overall, it's a pretty decent game. And it's free.

I've played Return to Zork. It's O.K., but somethinmes I get really stuck.
King's Quest I=-IV are good, and King's Quest VII is good, but I'm stuck in
oggaa-boogaa land.

Better than I am! I'm still in Chapter 2!!! (maybe that IS ooga-booga
land...) Anyway, I haven't gotten a single item for it yet.

I can help with chapter 2. What do you need help with first?

#9 of 26 by kain on Tue Jan 9 21:23:19 1996:

torin sounds awsome has anyone played enchanter or sorccerer?

#10 of 26 by jsr on Fri Jan 12 18:04:13 1996:

Enchanter? Sorcerer? Rings a tiny bell in my tiny mind. Weren't those
old, old Infocom games? Or maybe I'm just confused.

Coyote, I'm completely lost on what to do.

#12 of 26 by coyote on Sun Jan 14 15:03:41 1996:

Okay... Well you know you need a crystal dragon's scale, some baked beetles,
a gold bowl, some emerald water, nd a silver spoon, right?
Well, where would a bowl and baked troll food be? In the kitchen, right...

If you need more help, let me know

<kain says, "huh?>
#10 very good jeff, I'm stuck on both of 'em

#15 of 26 by jsr on Wed Jan 17 14:21:43 1996:

I did finish both Enchanter and Sorcerer, but it was so long ago that the
chances I can help you are approaching zero. But if you want to give me
some details on where you're stuck, maybe we'll get lucky and I'll
remember something useful.

#16 of 26 by kain on Thu Jan 18 01:31:12 1996:

I can't get past the junction or the bign sign that says DON'T BOTHER or how
to get the powerful scroll in the translucent rooms

#17 of 26 by jsr on Thu Jan 18 13:47:59 1996:

Like I said, the chances approach zero. I don't even vaguely remember
any of those things.

#18 of 26 by kain on Fri Jan 19 03:00:01 1996:

do you remember how to get into the warlock's tower?

#19 of 26 by jsr on Fri Jan 19 20:00:49 1996:

Yeah, you send Olvan into the town of Bone to get the Key of Brilliance,
and then... wait a minute, that's 7th Saga. Nope, I don't remember.

#20 of 26 by kain on Fri Jan 19 21:00:47 1996:

do you remember anything about how to get past the monks/chanting dudes

#21 of 26 by jsr on Tue Jan 23 17:26:45 1996:

No, I don't remember them either.

#22 of 26 by kain on Wed Jan 24 03:19:59 1996:

hmm do you remember anything about a chest with diferent color buttons in
sorcerer?

#23 of 26 by jsr on Wed Jan 24 15:51:44 1996:

Not really. It's been at least ten years since I've played these games,
so it's unlikely I'm going to recall anything without a lot of details to
refresh my memory. Even then, I might not be of much help.

#24 of 26 by kain on Fri Jan 26 02:57:40 1996:

owell,
maybe no, does anyone else play?

#25 of 26 by gandalf on Sat Mar 23 01:27:15 1996:

#26 of 26 by kain on Sat Mar 23 04:17:04 1996:
