What's warhammer 40k like?

#2 of 53 by moo on Sun Feb 19 13:07:39 1995:

Warhammer 40k ***ROCKS***
Oh, by the way shaymu, some friends (ie orinoco, snafu, eldrich, and some
others) and I are having the collest 40k battle. 3,000 pts for six players. 1
Orks (that's me), 1 Chaos, 1 Renegade space marines vs 1 Eldar, 2 Spacemarine.

PLUS I got the codex Orks, and ori' and i are doing a series of battles called:
THE GRETCHIN REBELLION. He and I developed new gretchin characters, I let him
take a couple Ork characters and whatd'ya know? Orks vs Gretchin.

PS (I'm going to anihalate him!)

Okay, If you don't get this your not alone

#4 of 53 by plork on Sun Feb 19 17:00:54 1995:

thanx, I needed that.......

#5 of 53 by seveners on Mon Feb 20 02:08:27 1995:

Whatever?!?

#6 of 53 by phreakus on Mon Feb 20 17:42:30 1995:

Just two words:Galactic Empires.

#7 of 53 by moo on Wed Feb 22 23:50:00 1995:

Orks, Chaos, Eldar, Space Marines are standard WH40K army types. Renegades
are renegade spacemarines. Gretchin are small orks (goblins?). The codex
Orks is part of the WH40K codex sereis which explains each army in depth.
So far there are three, but the 4th will come out this year.

The fourth will be Ultramarines for those interested.

I'm looking to have a War Game system integrated into the game that
i am designing. Any suggestions on good ones to look at?

#9 of 53 by kain on Thu Feb 23 21:15:21 1995:

War hammer 40k!
/

#10 of 53 by sidhe on Thu Feb 23 21:24:48 1995:

I *know* that one.. I want to look at several. Any others?

#11 of 53 by kain on Thu Feb 23 22:55:42 1995:

That's the only one I know about at all?

#12 of 53 by sidhe on Fri Feb 24 16:25:16 1995:

Fair enough, then, Kain. Anyone else know of another wargame I
should also look at?

#13 of 53 by orinoco on Sat Feb 25 14:36:41 1995:

Well yeah moo's gonna kill me, 'cause the codex Orks doesn't have beans about
gretchin. If i can figure out a way to use the goblins from warhammer, I
might win.

Oh, and sidhe, I have several ideas. What type of game are you designing, and
I'll give some suggestions.

#14 of 53 by sidhe on Sun Feb 26 14:42:42 1995:

        I'm designing a Universal RPG, that I wanted to build a Large-Scale
Combat system into, that would be as compatible as possible with the rest
of the game.

#15 of 53 by matthew on Sun Feb 26 14:52:12 1995:

How about the Risk strategic combat system. It doesn't get much easier and
streamlined than that.

#16 of 53 by shaymu on Tue Feb 28 14:13:42 1995:

If anyone wants to play 40k or Epic, I gots a Warzone-quality gaming table and
can field, in 40k, 300 pts of Orks and 2500-3000 pts. of Space Wolves, and in
Epic, 20000 pts. of imperial

#17 of 53 by vegforce on Thu Mar 2 06:35:24 1995:

#24 of 53 by phreakus on Tue May 16 17:04:53 1995:

Something..........

#25 of 53 by xerxes on Thu May 18 04:42:19 1995:

Umm, I thought this conversation would be about wargames. You know,
Squad Leader, Panzer Blitz, Axis & Allies, Flattop, etc.
Has anybody ever played any one of these? Or, as I fear, is
strategy wargaming dead and buried. Killed by an onslaught of
mindless card games. Oh, well. Who has 20 hours to sit and
finish a strategy game anyway? Card games are easier to learn.

#26 of 53 by setzer on Fri May 19 01:08:09 1995:

Sorry, but I still don't get it. What is this War Hammer 40k
that everybody's talking about? It sounds pretty popular, but
I've never even heard of it.

#27 of 53 by kain on Fri May 19 02:50:33 1995:

welcome to the party xerxes. Setzer, it's a strategy board game that's mo~e
expynsive than magic.
