Grex Oldrpg Item 11: Gnomes: the Greatest race to roleplay
Entered by spamwich on Sat Feb 11 20:26:26 UTC 1995:

Gnomes, most likely the most cool race out there for AD&D. Yes these insane
little guys put wonder into our lives with the inventions and illusions and
overall whackyness. You notice that none of the big Video Game RPGs have our
Gnomie friends so by all means go insane with a Gnome!

Keep it in the AD&D conference, we don't need THIS many items, please check
with kain or me before entering new items. (I never thought we needed separate
conferences for FF#!)

Plork, it would behoove you to allow this item to continue, and to
NOT discourage item-making. Trust me, i FW-ed paradox for awhile, and my
biggest problem was getting people to enter anything!
Also, this is a game-neutral favorite race item. I like it.
My favorite would probably be the Kirn from ManHunter.

#3 of 56 by kain on Thu Feb 23 21:12:49 1995:

I agree

#4 of 56 by sidhe on Thu Feb 23 21:22:58 1995:

What your favorite is the Kirn, from ManHunter? <grin>

#5 of 56 by kain on Thu Feb 23 22:52:45 1995:

What's manhunter?

#6 of 56 by sidhe on Fri Feb 24 16:22:40 1995:

A Book RPG, dear lad. It was recently put into a Sourcebook for use
with Rifts, with proper licencing from Palladium, of course..

#7 of 56 by plork on Fri Feb 24 20:50:57 1995:

I think you misunderstand me, just restrain yoursrelfs to popular topics, not
just ones you like. Other than that, enter away, and I won't freeze this IF you
kewep it running..

#8 of 56 by sidhe on Sun Feb 26 14:40:59 1995:

And are YOU to determine what's a popular topic? I think not! Don't
let your ego run this cf, or it will die!

#9 of 56 by phreakus on Mon Feb 27 17:59:24 1995:

Let's cool our heas, people. This is a place to Speak our minds in peace.
But I digress...Imagine a fight between a Storyteller-system Werewolf and
a gnome....<splat>

#10 of 56 by plork on Fri Mar 10 14:29:02 1995:

Thanx. Guys I am Just saying keep the responses coming and this stays alive.
NOW, can someone tell me all these happydoodle good things about gnomes?

#11 of 56 by radagast on Wed Mar 22 10:11:43 1995:

I'm sorry to disagree with you, but in all of my years of gaming, (and they are
many), I have never, NEVER, met a gnome that could be trusted any farther than
they could be thrown by a female halfling. They are a disgusting, dirty,
backstabbing, squirrel mugging race of chipmunk molesters. I have more fun
with them than any other race in my campaigns, when I can find a player brave
enough to rp one.

#12 of 56 by kain on Thu Mar 23 17:22:13 1995:

welcome to rpg darrel!

#13 of 56 by plork on Fri Mar 24 00:26:07 1995:

yup

#14 of 56 by radagast on Sat Mar 25 09:34:26 1995:

Thanks for the welcome. Btw, here's a question from pre-2nd edition
D&
D&D (I'll get it right yet!) What is a Cavalier paladins worst
nightmare? A female anti-cavalier. Get it? Oops, that has nothing
to do with gnomes, does it? Never mind. :-)

#15 of 56 by plork on Sun Mar 26 00:34:08 1995:

???????

#16 of 56 by moo on Sun Mar 26 01:50:16 1995:

gnomes are cool. on the issue of werewolves vs. the highly interesting race, I
know one gnome who would win: Nevernarfin, gnomish character of ori's campaign
he would honk his funky horn, blind the werewolfwith clouds of smoke, and then
slice away with a polearm he invented: the SNIP-O-MATIC!

#17 of 56 by radagast on Mon Mar 27 11:48:02 1995:

Yup, then promptly become Purina Werewolf Chow!

#18 of 56 by phreakus on Mon Mar 27 19:30:14 1995:

OK, But what happens when the rest of the pack finds out?

#19 of 56 by plork on Tue Mar 28 02:04:51 1995:

UH, OH!!!

#20 of 56 by phreakus on Mon Apr 3 17:32:52 1995:

GRRRRRRR!

#21 of 56 by wurm on Sun Apr 30 05:11:13 1995:

I am desperate so I'm responding to everything.

#22 of 56 by phreakus on Wed May 3 17:13:29 1995:

It sucks to be you, wurm.

#23 of 56 by kain on Wed May 3 20:33:25 1995:

yup

#24 of 56 by mneme on Sun Aug 6 04:59:52 1995:

Best RPG race? Fay. I really, really hope Changeling has the quality of
MAGE, not the original stupidity of Werewolf. Hell, it might even get me to
play a WW game, or at least steal from it.

#25 of 56 by starwolf on Mon Aug 7 16:24:28 1995:

<loud, angry voice> WHAT"S WRONG WITH WEREWOLF!!?!?!?!?!?

#26 of 56 by setzer on Mon Aug 7 22:04:39 1995:

Uh, uh, I give up! What is wrong with Werewolf, starwolf?

#27 of 56 by toking on Tue Aug 8 04:27:24 1995:

give me a wraith anyday....
or one of the quick...<H:TG>

#28 of 56 by starwolf on Tue Aug 8 17:33:01 1995:

Nothing, just venting my outrage at mneme's comment

#29 of 56 by mneme on Wed Aug 9 01:09:17 1995:

Heh. I'm just not into gaian nature-loving werewolves witha clear foe. The
Veil makes things entirely too easy (the Vampires have the Masqurade, the
Werewolves hae the Veil, the Mages Paradox...) and artifiality breaks my
disbelief. If I was going to something like that, I'd call it "Changers"
and make it a society ofall kinds of halfbreeds, not "all Gaia's little
Lupines" that WW has created.

#30 of 56 by kain on Sun Aug 27 02:44:18 1995:

I didn't even know werewolves was a pc race.

#31 of 56 by orinoco on Sun Aug 27 21:39:31 1995:

They can be if the DM allows them

#32 of 56 by toking on Tue Aug 29 01:50:44 1995:

heheheheh Alaghi are prettuy neat...

#33 of 56 by starwolf on Tue Aug 29 19:41:20 1995:

I've heard of plans to make the Beholder a PC race!

#34 of 56 by setzer on Tue Aug 29 20:35:13 1995:

I've made all species of octiopus legal in my campaign!!!

(It's kinda cool, if ya think abkout it.)

(Sorry about spelling; I'm having problems with my telnet client.)

#35 of 56 by mneme on Wed Aug 30 19:22:36 1995:

Sure, werewolves and vampires and Fay are a Pc race, s long as you're playing
something reasonably cool, like Nightlife, or Over the Edge, or WW, rather than
D$D

#36 of 56 by orinoco on Wed Aug 30 19:53:38 1995:

or Wraith the Oblivion, or Vampire, the Masquerade, or Werewolf the Apocalypse,
or...

#37 of 56 by mneme on Thu Sep 7 16:42:15 1995:

Din't ya see that "WW?" IT means White Wolf, after all... (I could have used
WoD if I wanted to).

#38 of 56 by jamie on Thu Sep 7 23:14:39 1995:

You can use any race in AD&D as a PC race, as long as the DM allows it. You
don't need any White Wolf products to play one of those were- or undead races.
Just a DM who'll accept the idea...

#39 of 56 by orinoco on Fri Sep 8 02:00:00 1995:

My pet idea for a PC race though is to roleplay a DEITY....so far, i haven't
seen a system that will let you, although I hear White Wolf has something
