Grex Oathbound Item 8: The Good the Bad the Ugly (in other words- Siblings) [linked]
Entered by anne on Wed Sep 28 17:27:28 UTC 1994:

Ther eis an item in InBetween about, or at least there was one about, kin
er, kids and their parents. (in other words kin <grin>) But I would like
to discuss siblings in this item. Because not only to people have to deal
with their parents on a regular basis, but quite often siblings too. So,
do you love em, hate em or what?

Don't see em enough to know.

#2 of 218 by dang on Wed Sep 28 18:02:34 1994:

My older sister, 20, is great. They tend to go downhill from there with
age, though. My younger brother is all right, and after that...

#3 of 218 by facelift on Wed Sep 28 20:07:08 1994:

My sister I barely know. My brother likes to beat me up, and he's a marine
which makes it so much more painful.

#4 of 218 by lestat on Thu Sep 29 06:53:14 1994:

I have problems with my brother. I hate him.

#5 of 218 by eeyore on Thu Sep 29 14:57:57 1994:

all three of my brothers are really cool. the older two spoil me (they gave
me a gold and diomond necklace for graduation...yes it is real, but VERY
small!) the younger one lives with me, so it sorta like we co-exist, but thats
about it.

#6 of 218 by facelift on Sun Oct 2 20:53:20 1994:

Why do you hatew your brother?

#7 of 218 by anne on Sun Oct 2 21:01:16 1994:

Well, I don't exactly hate any of my siblings... I have one older sister,
and two older brothers. My brothers and I get along much better now that
we hardly ever see each other. My sister and I are getting along better
too, now that we aren't living in the same house. My brother actually <gasp>
bought my lunch last time I saw him! <grin>

#8 of 218 by gerund on Mon Oct 3 01:22:10 1994:

Wow... heh.

Actually my sis has cooked me dinner and bought me lunch more times than I can
count. She's really the best and I actaully feel bad we had all those sibbling
rivalry thingies going on while we were growing up.

#9 of 218 by scg on Mon Oct 3 03:12:45 1994:

My brother and I used to not get along very well, but lately we've ben
getting along quite well. I really haven't noticed any sibling rivalry in
the last few months, and probably longer.

#10 of 218 by eeyore on Mon Oct 3 13:38:32 1994:

kirk and i were the only ones with the rivalry, and that stopped years ago

it helps that i'm the baby, so that everyone is loder.

#11 of 218 by anne on Tue Oct 4 16:46:00 1994:

eeyore- yep, I could say the same thing. Sometimes it's good to be the baby...
<grin>

#12 of 218 by eeyore on Tue Oct 4 18:23:22 1994:

i just *LOVE* being spoiled rotten!

#13 of 218 by anne on Wed Oct 5 01:00:54 1994:

yeah, me too!

#14 of 218 by facelift on Sat Oct 8 00:40:21 1994:

Everyone's older than me...err...until my sister showed up...this is a long
story. See the inbetween parents item for fun and profit, and details.

#15 of 218 by flem on Sun Oct 9 20:51:17 1994:

I get along decently w/my sibs. That is, I don't quite want to kill them. I
would settle for just moving them to Alaska. 'Course, the fact that all 5
of them are younger than me doesn't help...

#16 of 218 by eeyore on Tue Oct 11 16:21:54 1994:

i always wondered how many you had...when i asked dan, he said that he didn't
know!

#17 of 218 by dang on Wed Oct 12 18:14:47 1994:

How am I supposed to keep them straight?

#18 of 218 by eeyore on Thu Oct 13 15:08:46 1994:

well last time i asked greg he also said that he didn't know!

#19 of 218 by bhelliom on Sat Nov 5 20:30:01 1994:

Hmm. . .I am quite the youngest of my brother and sisters. My father's son and
daughter are 33 and 31, and my mother's daughter is 25. Which means I actually
sometimes have 2 fathers and three mothers. . .sometimes.

#20 of 218 by anne on Sat Nov 5 21:31:30 1994:

sounds fun... not to mention confusing... <smile>

#21 of 218 by arnster on Sat Nov 5 22:42:20 1994:

All my siblings are great....sometimes misguided and don't live in the real
world...but we all can't be perfect like me<arnster smiles}. My older and
younger sister (23, 16) need to stop that unless they're dating a guy, there
aren't a real person. My twin sister and I are somewhat alike...we live
in the real world (or as much as you can in college)....my younger brother
(9) is 9 and is just like me and it scares me....an intelligent competitor
that is athletic minded, without the athletic ability and an off-the-wall
sense of humor...I worry about him with that combination!

#22 of 218 by anne on Sun Nov 6 22:54:24 1994:

you have a twin? Neat.
what's wrong with that combination? <grin>
Where does your sister go to school?

#23 of 218 by arnster on Mon Nov 7 06:35:50 1994:

Yep, I'm a twin...it was the greatest thing for me growing up! I was so shy
and she carried me socially growing up.....I didn't even speak until I was
3 except to her in whispers and then she'd tell my parents!
My parents were really worried about me...until they figured out I was reading
to her at 3....that relived them that I wasn't developing slowly! She's at
Eastern Illinois University and is an elementary ed. major and is big into
Greek life there...she gets mad when I make fun of it because I find it to sbe
so fake! (Sorry this is so garbled...someone keeps writing me!)....it's a tough
comgination growing up because he'll want to be as athletic as his friends, but
he just doesn't have the ability (like me!)....it's tough to work harder than
everybody because you want it, but know in your mind that coaches rarely notice
unless you're good! Plus, having a weird sense of humor in a farm-town school
is not a good quality if you want to fit in.....it took me a long time to
figure out that there are other people with a strange sense of humor, and those
that could figure out where the hell I'm coming from on comments I make!

#24 of 218 by eeyore on Mon Nov 7 16:20:52 1994:

i think that is so cool!!!!!

my brotheres (23,25,27) are all a little different. kirk is from my moms
first marrige, and is a stock broker alcoholic, with his nipple pierced.
todd and mike are from my dad's first marrige. todd is a chef who lost his
licence for drunk driving, and lives in california. mike is a professional
student and hippie-freak who makes his own beer, and lives also in california.

(do you see a trend here?)

i love all of them dearly, although somethimes i just want to smack them
and say "grow up!!!!"

#25 of 218 by anne on Tue Nov 8 01:33:36 1994:

Meg- you have to be the one to break the trend!! Go on, be strong!!
<grin>

#26 of 218 by gerund on Tue Nov 8 01:58:21 1994:

Yes, be strong.

#27 of 218 by kami on Tue Nov 8 05:57:40 1994:

Right- be a tea totaller, or a chocolate addict! <g>

#28 of 218 by eeyore on Tue Nov 8 13:25:59 1994:

well, as the only alchol i've had (besides a glass of wine with holliday
dinnerand that don't count) was in gerrmany. i don't mis the stuff at all.

and i'm really sorry, kami, but i hate tea!

#29 of 218 by anne on Wed Nov 9 02:15:17 1994:

Well, what about the chocolate part...

#30 of 218 by eeyore on Wed Nov 9 14:41:13 1994:

well, we won't mention the chocolate....:)

#31 of 218 by kami on Thu Nov 10 21:41:27 1994:

I don't know, eeyore, if I can still let you in my house; what do you mean
you don't like tea? It's a sacrament! <g>

#32 of 218 by eeyore on Fri Nov 11 13:32:14 1994:

hey, i'm still addicted to chocolate!

#33 of 218 by brighn on Sat Nov 12 00:49:28 1994:

Tea? Not like tea?
The liquid of life?
Slow he turned, step by step, inch by inch...

#34 of 218 by kami on Sat Nov 12 04:10:29 1994:

well, we'll just have to make chocolate tea <g>

#35 of 218 by brighn on Sat Nov 12 04:27:29 1994:

I've had chocoloate tea. Not bad, actually.

#36 of 218 by dang on Wed Nov 16 18:14:58 1994:

What!?!?

#37 of 218 by thepope on Thu Nov 17 03:55:28 1994:

Hello all. Gosh, my first response. Speaking as a twin, and anne can vouch
for this (btw, your welcome about lunch), I think that being a twin is cool.
I can't imagine what growing up would have been like my twin brother. But
it would have been interesting to see what growing would have been like without
a certain spoiled little sister :).
Might I also add that tea is disgusting? Oh, I just did.

#38 of 218 by gerund on Thu Nov 17 08:32:45 1994:

This could prove very hilarious. I'm sure.
You must be talking about michelle, huh? must be.

#39 of 218 by eeyore on Thu Nov 17 13:10:15 1994:

or something like that....;)
