Oh my!!!!!! *Mousey faints....*
(fans mousey) Welcome (eventually) to GrexHome Michigan (umm... I mean Ann Arbor) Clees !
I am still in shock.
What a nice idea, clees. I would offer to help you witha place to sayt but unfortunatly, until I go off to school in Sept, I have no place to offer. After my last sojourn into the world of higher-post-high-school education, and then I had so many bills I ran hom, my mother has sworn me to not let any grexers near her apartment (after the Lestat ordeal...:) ) But do inform me when you will be in the area, and I will make the trip down to Ann Arbor to see you.
Well, as I said, I am not really sure there is going to be a place/seat for me in a plane to Chicago/Detroit. You see, I was going to visit bhelliom, as we are developed in busy correspondents, but I haven't got her definite fiat yet. As soon as I know more I will certainly try. The only thing is actually, that she will be leaving for China for nine months, and things really have to be done in that particular week. Or else, I will come next summer (in 1997, yhat is) as I am planning with a couple of friends to do the route 66, and be real and proper tourists. But since that route starts in Chicago, those 200 mls. can't be too much of a problem. But, take it from me: I want to come! Bribes can be made for hospitality. <sigh> why do I always make these decisions on such short and tight notice? I'll keep you informed, anyways. ciao! er, btw: since today I have got my own Homepage! Posted in Holland, yes, but written in my typically Dutch english stacked with typos and grammatical errors. the address: http://huizen.dds.nl/~elkerlyc/ (in it a picture of me..........aiaiai)
*grin* Cool!
much of route 66 has been replaced by interstate 40, unfortunately. however, parts of it do still exist here and there (and it's a lot longer than 200 miles...route 66 went all the way from chicago to california).
I plan to drive it at some point in my life. :)
Next year? (wink wink). Btw, I tried to buy a seat yesterday, but they put me on a waitinglist, which means all seats are taken. Well, expect nothing and hope for the best. As I feared, my impulsive ways sometimes play nasty tricks on me. (damn)
you'll be in for a treat, morgaene. there are some pretty good parts left (i've been on some of them). that's a shame, clees.
Treat, treat, me want a treat! :)
(matthew pulls some mousey treats from his bag and passes themto morgaene)
I forgot all about the olympics! That might be the reason. Btw, what happened last night is too bad. )awful
*grin* Neat treat. :) Clees, if you are referring to the plane that went down, yes, it is too bad.
Yep, two plains down in so little time... <grin:> sure you want to go to the America's Cleese? <seriously:> Thank heaven so many flights don't go wrong!
Of course I want to. If not this year, next year, or the year after. I am that kind of snob that doesn't feel he's had a decent holiday if he hasn't crossed the borders of Europe. (which means I only had one, haha) Why don't you go with me? We'll pick up some Grexers and do route 66 together.
There were a bunch of young kids on that plane, and they were on their way to France for theoir French class trip. :(
Are you all talking about the plane that was shot down outside of JFK? I'm not sure of the airport, but the gov't has siad that there is strong evidence that it was a surface to air missile. I don't think that the gov't would admit to a surface to air missile on our own soil, without some STRONG evidence. Well that is what is what we heard up here from the news service. But from what I understand the higher ups have really clamped down on what has been getting out to news lately. But htis one is definaltely out the the ordinary.
hmmm. i've heard nothing about a surface-to-air missile, but most folks are concluding that it was a bomb of some sort. (val, where is "up here?")
Yep, most people have not heard of a surface to air missile.
I'v e heard that it is one of the possibilities, but they think it was more along the lines of a bomb in the plane... Of course, they still haven't said for sure that it was anything of the sort, officially it could have been a problem with the plane... <Shrug> (I watch too much tv.... they kept interrupting my soaps... <grin> ) As soon as they know if it was a bomb they will be turning the investigation over to the FBI.
Up in northern Michigan. That was the first thing I heard, over the radio. We confirmed it with the CNN and a couple other electronic newsfeeds up in the computer lab I guess it only leaked out for a little while. Then 'they' clamped down on it.
I honestly don't think that was what it was, because for that, there would have needed to be a Naval base, or an Air Force base nearby.... Alos, if that were what it was, the Italian plane that witnessed it would have said they saw something hit the plane.... However, if that is the case, that could be why the Navy is having so much trouble finding the black boxes, and why they have not okayed divers to go down and explore the wreckage..... I definately smell something fishy, and it is a shame those 21 children from that wschool in Pennsylkvania had to die and now all their classmates have to deal with that loss....
The reason that the missile thing got started was because alot of the eye-witnesses said that they saw something like a flare going up to meet the plane. Lots of missiles don't need military bases to be deployed from what I understand. Anyway, could have been us anyway. Well that was the word that got around in camp.
What leeks through in Holland is that they definitely found traces of explosives, which makes bombing more likely. This doesn0t do good to my general view towards Arabs (esp. considering they announced bombing the day before the crash.)
yikes. this brings to mind a news report i heard a couple years ago about how various gangs here were attempting to buy heavy-duty weaponry from middle eastern terrorists...grenade launchers, missiles, and the like. it's possible that they were successful and that's why not much real news is leaking out about this.
Now Void, I can uinderstand that. :)
The thing that bothers me is where the terrorists got this stuff from orginaly.
Yeah.... That's the scary part...
Isn't it ironic?
I'd say Germany or Belgium. Theze countries are the major second weapon exporters ( eh, that meant to read second handed). Manufacturing?
THey are now comparing it to the Lockerbie Scotland flight, perhaps my original theory of Irish terrorists is not so far off?? *shrug* But I saw a press conference today and you are rght Val, they are definately investigating heavily into the missile theory.
Was the Scotland one Irish terrorists? Or Middle Eastern? Add to the bombing the hijaked flight from Spain... Makes me *really* look forward to getting on a place next Tuesday... <sigh>
No one ever bombs Michigan, Anney. ;) *shrug* But, then, they bombed Centennial Park at teh Olympics, I guess anything is possible, can you please E-mail me what flight you will be on and when you are sup[posed to leave and when you are coming back? *is worried* I'm glad we are *not* flying to Virginia.
I'm just flying to one of the airports that is central to DC... <sigh> I don't know the flight number... I know we're flying out at 3:35 to Cleveland, and then an hour after that to BWI (?) in Baltimore. <shrug> Dat's all I know...
Otay, Kity Cat. *huggle* Be safe....Have fun, and don't do anything I wouldn't do..... *grin*
Luckily that leaves a lot open. ;) <huggles mousey>
*hudes in a basket from MoonKitty* Hey....wait a minute..... *While Mooncat is away, Mousey will play......* Hmmmm.....I need a victim.....volunteers? *wink*
With gladly joy I'll be your toy, Morgaene.
