Grex Oathbound Item 41: From that guy in Texas, Erik Conner (paladin) [linked]
Entered by paladin on Fri Feb 9 22:58:17 UTC 1996:

The Texas Grexers, Paladin, Soriac, Rhino, and Spamman(if his gf lets him
out of South Bend ;)), are going to be coming to A2. If you think that
you could take us in during our stay or even part of it, we would be very
greatful. We would be willing to split up or group if it becomes necessary
and have people stay at different locations. Here is the tenative schedule:

Arrive A2(area) June 14th --- Leave June 15th for Gaylord.

Leave Gaylord 20th --- Arrive A2(area) sameday. Hopefully stay in
A2 until the the 1st of July.

These times are not certain, and I know its in the middle of grexstock, sorry
er =). We plan for our food and a little rent if we have to, Let us know if
you can help us out, either here or Mail paladin.

Somebody ought to tell him that we'll all be in West Virginia on those
dates.
;)

#2 of 65 by steve on Sat Feb 10 01:52:06 1996:

Glad you know its GrexStock time. Is there any chance you can
reschedule things? I'll bet you can get more offers if you pick
a better time!

(Wait... I thought we weren't leaving for Grexstock until the 21st or
22nd, and if that's the case, why not bring them along? I'd be willing,
but I'd have to stick at least one person in my trunk.) 8^)

(even better, paladin, you could carpool with the Gaylorders to get to
Ann Arbor.)

#5 of 65 by paladin on Sat Feb 10 20:03:00 1996:

Steve, unfortunatly we have to come in June, though these dates are not
ceratier certain, I'd like to arrange things better but I don't have much to
work withValerie: Thanks.. if the dates for grexstock change let me know =)
Carson: Not sure we could make it to grexstock, also not sure how many of the
grexers we are familiar with are going, no offence to those who don't know us ,
its not that we don't want to meet ya, its just that we are giving :help

#6 of 65 by paladin on Sat Feb 10 20:06:30 1996:

oops =), can you tell i don't respond much?, anyway, we are giving those we
know first priority. Most of these people may not be going to grexstock,
West VA is kinda far. Thanks for all the Input =)

#7 of 65 by carson on Sun Feb 11 14:23:03 1996:

(gee, Eric, if you're going to be in Ann Arbor anyway, why not hitch
a ride with some of us? We'd love to have you along, and it'd pribly be
more fun than a ghost town.) 8^)

#8 of 65 by nitewolf on Sun Feb 11 19:50:40 1996:

I would have to ask void, who lives with me, but we may be able to put
up at least two of you. I'll ask her and get back to you guys on this.

#9 of 65 by sun on Wed Mar 6 21:18:10 1996:

My goodness, you guys were making such progress! IIF I had not promised
my mother that I would not be harboring any Grexers from far away place
that I had never met before in my home alone, then MAYBE I could, but I can't.
She would honestly kill me.

And as for YOU, Carson! I assume that the paralyzing fear of riding in MY
trunk has finally worn off? Now that you are offering others the same
pleasure.

And as for Grexstock, I have to say with all honesty I do not understand
WHY they can't have it in the TOWN that grex is in!!! I said this LAST year.
Gaylord and now West Va. Someone needs to re think this.

I will not be going to grexstock, so let me know, and I will be glad to
show you guys around the "Ghost Town"

#10 of 65 by sun on Wed Mar 6 21:21:25 1996:

NOt that she didn't try and kill me the first time she say Gerund, or
lestat, OH! Now THAT is one for the story books! :)

I am thinking of linking this to Oathbound. You might get some other
responses there. At least of people coming or going.

,
(oops)

We are Linked!!

#12 of 65 by eeyore on Wed Mar 6 22:10:42 1996:

what's wrong with w. va?????

#13 of 65 by danr on Wed Mar 6 22:45:37 1996:

re #9: We all live here--we'd rather go somewhere else to Grexstock.

#14 of 65 by steve on Wed Mar 6 22:45:45 1996:

But *Grex* is in cyberspace. The hardware may be in Ann Arbor
Michigan, but where are the conferences located? Oh, a copy of them
resides in Ann Arbor too, but the activity here on Grex is in a place
that is as different and as hard to describe as "where" a radio station
is. It, and Grex are elsewhere.
That being the case, then it makes sense that a Grex gathering can
be anywhere.

#15 of 65 by scg on Thu Mar 7 04:37:03 1996:

I get to spend the rest of the year in Ann Arbor. If I want to go on a
camping trip I'll go somewhere else. What is all this resistance to
travelling I'm seeing here? Besides, the birthday party will be in Ann Arbor.

June 14th is my 21st birthday! :)

#19 of 65 by carson on Thu Mar 7 20:11:17 1996:

(happy all that good stuff, Melly!)

#20 of 65 by brighn on Thu Mar 7 21:59:37 1996:

*I'm* not going to Grexstock (and not just because it's in WVa, but that's
a definite factor...) but I also don't live close enough to A2 to make
housing any Texans all that feasible. I'd love to meet you guys, though.

And I agree with Sun. Maybe it's a good idea not to have Grexstock in
A2, but y'all could choose a site a bit more convenient. True, we have Grexers
from outside Michigan, but Yuuichi (e.g.) is in Japan... maybe Grexstock
'97 should be in Tokyo? (set sarcasm=off)
(actually, Grexstock in Tokyo would be a lot more tempting to me than
WVa... heh)

#21 of 65 by carson on Thu Mar 7 22:09:41 1996:

(if you wanted a site closer, you'd organize it. as it is, a very generous
person has offered to host it, just like last year, and that's why we're
going. it's not brain surgery.)

(Kalinda, Paul, do either of you have anything positive to contribute, or
is it simply going to be more destructive commentary?)

#22 of 65 by sun on Fri Mar 8 02:13:50 1996:

"Destructive commentary"? Isn't that a little harsh, carson? I mean,
I would like to meet these guys from Texas as much as anyone. All I was
doing was responding to the comment that no one would be around A2, because
of grex-stock.

Sue me.

(you asked, and I answered. again, simple communication. no degree needed.)

#24 of 65 by omni on Fri Mar 8 02:58:53 1996:

Hey, Grexstock or not, this uid will be going to WV. I'm gonna need a BIG
dose of it. ;)

#25 of 65 by eeyore on Fri Mar 8 15:34:13 1996:

judging by the looks of it, i will probably not be able to make it to
grexstock this year because of work, and i wish i could!!! :(

when are the dates?

#26 of 65 by anne on Sat Mar 9 07:29:15 1996:

I dunno... but I probably won't be able to go to Grexstock either...
<pout> Hey Meg- think we can house a grexer or two?

#27 of 65 by eeyore on Sun Mar 10 13:44:55 1996:

i'd have no problems with that...

#28 of 65 by anne on Tue Mar 12 14:13:03 1996:

Oh goodie. :)

#29 of 65 by sun on Tue Mar 12 16:21:01 1996:

Goodie Goodie Goodie. Well, when Erik gets back from McKendree, ad reads
this, I think he will be pleased...:)

#30 of 65 by clees on Fri Mar 15 15:55:16 1996:

Maybe next year I'll come to AA (don't know when though, if at all).
At least it'd be a sound opportunity to improve my use of english.

#31 of 65 by birdlady on Fri Mar 15 19:40:35 1996:

<birdy is holding back a scream> You're coming to Gaylord?!? I live
there/here...whatever. =) You all can camp out in my backyard or basement
if you haven't found a place yet.

#32 of 65 by morgaene on Sat Mar 16 14:46:05 1996:

I'm going to Florida in December.....
*shrug*
*grin*

#33 of 65 by paladin on Tue Mar 19 02:41:46 1996:

Hey Mel, I'm exactly one year older than you are ;), I'll be 22 June
14th =). Oh, and if your going to Florida, take me with you ;).

Ok, I think we may be staying a bit less at mck in june and more in
A2 or where ever, if we can get places to stay, there should be three
of us, but splitting us up won't be too much of a problem as long as
its not too far, I dont' want to be too far from ppl I am taking care
of.
Anne: sounds great, where exactly do you live? ;)
Sarah: Basement is good =), not sure what is up with Colleen, so I'll
have to let you know.
Thanks for your input and willingness to help us out =)

#34 of 65 by paladin on Tue Mar 19 02:47:54 1996:

One more thing, Thanks for putting this up Sunny I really appreciate it =)
I'll try to have a up-to-=date schedule for all who are interested.

#35 of 65 by giry on Tue Mar 19 02:56:48 1996:

I will gladly take you all, if I am in Gaylord myself. I may have a job on
mackinac Island so if i get it Iam taking it... but Iwon't be there to put
you up... but I will let you know as soon as I can...

#36 of 65 by elli on Tue Mar 19 03:02:23 1996:

mackinac island is a cool place to visit on our boat
where are you going to work

#37 of 65 by giry on Tue Mar 19 14:35:59 1996:

<set drift on>
I am applying for a job at a bookstore.. not sure which one, but it was an
ad in my college paper.
<set drift off>

#38 of 65 by morgaene on Tue Mar 19 14:39:32 1996:

Hey, that is cool! :) June 14th is an awesome day, eh?

#39 of 65 by paladin on Tue Mar 19 20:10:53 1996:

Yes it is Mel =). I'll be in A2 then too, that will be interesting =).
