Has anyone gone canoeing in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area? What
routes are beautiful (and easy) ones? (I'm planning a trip for this
fall, and am going with friends and their young children, so we
can't really do any of the more difficult circuits).

   What is the weather like there in September?

   I have already purchased a guidebook to the western half of the
area, and will probably go in somewhere east of Ely.

I have gone for a week canoeing in Boundary Waters in September, and it was
beautiful.  Of course, one member of our party had a longstanding claim that
she could control the weather ...

It was near Ely, I recall.  Don't know if I could reconstruct our route from
a map.  Going in September (after Labor Day) was perfect: we saw nobody else.

What routes are beautiful ones, you ask ... it's hard to imagine any ugly
ones!
