Hello world, I am new to this place and am hunting for groups of students/student organizations who are interested in trekking, travelling, visiting nature wildlife parks, forests and other similar outdoor activities. Any directions would be appreicated. Vikram.

Oops. I forgot to mention where this place is :). I am at Ann Arbor studying at the University of Michigan. Vikram.
Vikram, there are many events listed in the Ann Arbor Observer. THe Sierra
Club goes on hikes every Sunday around noon, and you do not need a car. The
Observer also publishes an annual list of things to do in Ann Arbor, which
you can read at the public library. The parks department is always looking
for volunteers to help in the parks, and you will meet people that way. In
the winter they do cleanup, in the summer nature walks. The county has nature
walks but you need a car to go to them. And we would be happy to go for walks
in the local parks or along the river with you, or for bikes (not for much
longer, it is about to snow). E-mail me. And Grex itself goes for short
walks on Saturday mornings at the Arboretum.
What are you studying here?
The Saturday morning Grex walks start in Gallup Park and proceed through the Arboretum. Not exactly heavy-duty nature trekking, but I find them to be a pleasant way to socialize and get some decent exercise in pleasant outdoor surroundings. There's an item about them in the Agora conference where you can get more details.
Vikram will give us a call and we may go hiking next week. Is any other grex member interested in going along, maybe hiking along the river or Bird Hills? A weekday afternoon other than Wednesday is good for us.
I might be interested. I hike in Bird Hills a fair amount, and I'm pretty familiar with the various parks and woods on the north side of town. Weekday afternoons are often OK.
