Entered by brenda on Fri Dec 23 18:38:45 UTC 1994:

plug your mud! if you want to let others know about your favorite
muds, please include the address, the type of mud it is (lpmud, circle,
diku, etc.) and a short description of the mud itself. (or not,
if you don't want to)

If you like a small mud (0-5 players on ususally), try
Elements of Paradox. It's based on skills, not exp or levels. The
people are nice and it's quite different from most muds.

it's an lpmud at elof.acc.iit.edu 6996.
Loof for me (Aphrael) there, and say hi!

#2 of 82 by seraph on Tue Jan 3 11:16:17 1995:

awhile thanks for posting it!

New Moon is where I'm to be found jove.cs.pdx.edu 7680
It's still quite small and still in Beta-testing but its growing fast
At the moment it has a 15 player limit but that will go when we move sites
Check it out =)

#4 of 82 by sungoku on Thu Jan 12 04:57:37 1995:

If you like small muds maybe try the Circle of Life mud it's at ixc.net 4000 or
maybe on port 5001 probably depends on the mood of the head imp there. Another
one you can try is eduserv.rug.ac.be 3555 it's even smaller and it has very
fluctuating hours. have fun.

#5 of 82 by tryxilit on Tue Jan 31 08:01:59 1995:

I'd just like to back up the NewMoon Mud plug. Its advancing in leaps and
bounds with new twists being added each day.. only slight drawback is the
number of players has been reduced to 12 for the moment..(The move IS going to
happen...I keesaying :))

I'd like to announce the return to life of DiscWorld.
After several months absence due to lack of site it has returned thank God
It's address for any interested parties to check out is:
199.183.109.245 4242
It's currently undergoing a lot of changes to make it correspond closer
to the DiscWorld books of Terry Pratchett especially with the mapping
We certainly need more players, especially new players to contribute to
the game as a player, playtester and as a personality :)
Hope to see some of you there..

are there any grex muds?

#10 of 82 by sook on Thu Mar 16 06:51:43 1995:

Weeble Woo, Welcome to the wonderful worlds of Sook Sook! Anyway, I don't
just play muds, I'm like wizard everywhere. =) Elements of Paradox! (I still
miss Pixie, but I might stop by there again). Anyway, this is a short list
of my favorites:
 3-Kingdoms: marble.pa.state.ky.us 5000
It's great, if you can manage to get on under the 110 user limit.
Vargon Mud: 128.220.24.36 4444
This is a spoofy fun mud, not too big but the people are great and
I'm building the guild to end all guilds here. =)
Emerald Mud: genie.resnet.upenn.edu 5000
This one is new, it's also based on Jordan's books if you're into that.
(I'm not, they just wanted me to tweak the lib for them, altho I did
build an area based on the Legend of Zelda games here)

More later, if you guys so demand. =)
            Sook Sook!

#11 of 82 by bushman on Fri Mar 17 21:56:42 1995:

Ahhh I have an update from teh world of Tolkien RP :) the address for the
mMush I described earlier is dana.ucc.nau.edu 1892, It is a great place were
orcs and Rohirrim meet in battle and wizards talk with hobbits. It is great
fun and I am known as Elendir now and a man of Rohan....join us to take down
teh dark lord..........fun game Another game I liked was a small MUD that some
ppl here showed me you can reach it by telneting to jeack.apana.org.au 4000. I
have not appeared there as often for i am usually at Tolkien MUSH but i am
bushman. Some other grexers on that MUD are roboto, killer, allen,
scrapy...they will also be glad to help
                                        Have fun MUSHing,
                                                Bushman

I'm here to happilly announce the return of DreamShadow! We went down
last fall due to the bankrupcy of our previous provider, and had a great
deal of trouble recovering our files, but we've found a new provider
(yournet.com) and are setting up our files... We'll reopen for Beta
testing when we've cleared out any bugs related to the new system and
implemented a few features we've been working on in the downtime...

     Thanks a billion,

#14 of 82 by keir on Fri Apr 21 20:16:47 1995:

hi i just want to put in a ditty for the mud i play, Dark Castle. it's a diku
and most things are allowed (pkilling, stealing, and spam killing those who do
the first things....) it's really great, has levels and exp and eq..ummm and
there are always ppl on it. it just moved to jitter.rahul.net 6666 and it is
planning a ummmmm...? upgrade? not sure what to call it, but we're all building
and the new dc (we call it dc++) promises to be excellent. it's lots of fun
quite addicting, and help is easily come by if you seek it out. if not you can
go on your own. it's got some of everything..tolkein and dark realms are two
that come to mind...(did i miss a line there???) anyway come check it out... i
go by my name on it..but play a few others more frequently...it's good stuff..

I play a great Mud that combines skill and experience levels. There are quests
that you have to solve to raise your level. You can join forces with others
and the is no player killing allowed. I have made alot of good friends through
it and people really help each other. Ragnarok -- telnet to Rag.com 2222
It will be down until Sept 4 for refitting, pentium 100 w/2 gig drive
and 32 meg EDO ram. there are many realms to visit and usually 15 to 25 playe
at one time online. Probably more on the new system. I am <Emptyhand> the
Ninja I will help you just <tell emptyhand {msg}> and I will help you if i am
online Hope to see you there:)

I'd like to plug the one MUD I play consistantly: DartMud.
It's based on LP 3.1.2 (I think) though it's been heavily modified.
What I like about it is that it tries to be realistic. You don't gain
levels; you develop skills. Also, its creators are attempting to institute
an entirely self-sustaining PC economy. Meaning, PCs would make all equipment
and
food, etc. I know that cooking pancakes sounds like a stupid thing to
do over a MUD, but it actually is pretty cool. There are quests you can under-
take to gain special items...even some quests which are one-time only.

address:
dartmud.aloha.net 2525
or http://dartmud.aloha.net to check out its homepage.

#28 of 82 by firefawn on Mon Oct 30 11:25:47 1995:

JOIN XANIA MUD!!! Its new and just opened last week. Anyone who likes a
challenge without PKilling, Imms who listen and a good bunch of people, just
telnet to X.pyro.org 9000 I'm Firefawn and Magius. Look for me, and I'll give
you some help.

#29 of 82 by ejr2561 on Wed Dec 27 18:22:01 1995:

PLAYER KILLER!!! PLAYER STEAL!!!!! I want more!!!!!!!!!
nothing like always being under the pressure of real life situations. *rush*

try telnet dallet.channel1.com 1234 (down now but will be up in mid january)
Changes are being made but last I heard, being Player killed did not give
players an xp penalty.(I find that sucks but some like not being in danger)
oh yeah... It's a DikuMud

#30 of 82 by rywfol on Thu Dec 28 09:53:05 1995:

Re:#23: I know of at least 5 different MUDs which go by the name of Phoenix
but offhand the only one who's address I can recall was at the last
check hobbes.poly.edu 4000. I'll see if I can dig up addresses for
any of the others and post them here for you if I do.

Also, plug time. Discworld, one of the oldest MUDs in the world =) is, I
hope, finally settled in its new site. It can be found at
discworld.imaginary.com 4242 and is, of course, brilliant. Anyone who's
read Terry Pratchett's books should love it.

Everybody must try RealmsMud! There's always people on it, Player Killing
is optional, so you can have it or not: your choice, and it's really one of
the best MUDs I've every played. (Second best, actually). Telnet to:
realms.dorsai.org 1501

#35 of 82 by ripley on Sun Feb 23 03:13:37 1997:

My favourite is Avatar of course, but there are also lots.
Avatar: Non-PK, 50 levels for mortals, then 999 hero levels and so on
Daneel, Trevize, Baley and Novi there if u need any help :>
        walrus.com 3000
Carrion Fields: PK Mud. Used to play there once upon a time.
                If you want chaos, try.
NNL: Another PK Mud. Btw, Avatar always has at least 100 players
logged on. And also Carrion Fields. NNL is a copy of CF. But
     less players. 144.122.218.103 6300
Oblivion: Another PK mud. harker.dnaco.net 1234
          50 Mortal levels.

BTW, Avatar is merc-diku, CF, NNL and Oblivion rom based muds.

I am currently addicted to Realms of Despair, the mud that developed the SMAUG
mud code currently used by many other muds. This mud normlly has 200-300
people at any time, yet never loses its personal touch. there are currentyly
9 classes including Vampires and Paladins, and about the same number of races.
I am Seppuku on there also, and I will be happy to help and and all Grexers
out. the mud is at realms.game.org 4000 and is always up. BTW SMAUG clode is
a derivative of Dikumud code base, but improves on them in many ways.
REALMS OF DESPAIR
realms.game.org 4000
nuff said.
