M-Net is down. Attempted to login just after 1900 UTC but there was no reply over telnet.

Whose fault is that, twenex?
Cause as yet unknown. Don't shoot the messenger. Signed, Your humble chronicler.
Yeah, I noticed that....

No it's not.

Hmm; I just logged in using SSH. Uptime says 20 some hours.
might have been wwnet network problems with a panic sometime later on.
re 8 telnet to m-nets up!
I can't log onto mnet anymore because I keep getting this security alert. Something about a "certificate," whatever that is, issued by "roots@arbornet.org," whoever "roots" is. No big loss, sadly. I did however want to point out that Strom Thurmond died yesterday, so somebody should go check the knutz cf and see who won the "Forgotten But Not Gone" contest. jerryr now owes him or her 1,000,000 gribblies, as I recall.

I've never even heard of the knutz cf
furs guessed 7/4/03 so she is the closest. she was only one week off, that isnt bad
Cool! Please make the announcement in that item, if you haven't already done so.
...and tell jerryr to cough 'em up.
ok. and btw, just ignore the certificate stuff and you can log in just fine
I can't. It generates a security alert that says "The name on the security certificate is invalid or does not match the name of the site." Anyway, too bad about Strom Thurmond. The world has lost a very, um, old man.
huh. it doesnt give you an option to proceed? What browser do you use?
It's funny, I can telnet in but I can't use Backtalk without getting that security alert. But telnetting is so infra dig.
It's because tonster did something to the certificates. I dont know what. send him email, I am sure he'll explain it to you.
No thanks. If Einstein ever fixes it, please enter something about it here and I might give it another try. ;-)
fair enough
#145 al-Mighty (tonster) Thu, Jun 26, 2003 (22:04): backtalk.arbornet.org and backtalk-devel.arbornet.org are now encrypted! Most of you will likely notice that you're getting redirected to an IP address. This will happen over the next couple of days until DNS is fully propogated. Eventually, it'll be the https://backtalk.arbornet.org and https://backtalk-devel.arbornet.or g that it always was. Also, if you don't want to accept the warnings about unknown CA's (we sign our own certificates), you can download and install our root CA certificate into your browser at http://www.arbornet.org/ssl/ca.crt. Let us know if you have questions! There's what's going on, from the sytem problems item.
That is too much trouble probably.
M-net seems to be down.
scribbling is annoying.
