M-NET Access Information  (Updated 07/10/2000)
 
Dialin Access Numbers:

 Dialing into any of the numbers listed below, you will be prompted 
 with a Login: prompt, at which, you would enter 'mnet', and then when
 prompted for a password, you should just hit return.   This will connect
 you to m-net, at which point you will be prompted with the standard
 M-net login prompt.

They used to serve a purpose.  Right now, they're not doing anything.

Please explain how to use mnet as a new user.   The program accepted newuser
as the Login: but what is the password, and what to do after that?
We are hoping to sign up Jim's sister in Warren for e-mail, as it is a local
call for her and grex is not.  

I tried login: mnet, password: enter, and got a screen that told me to use
newuser as the login, then NO CARRIER before I was even asked for a login.
Are m-net dialins actually still working?  Is mnet alive?

Sounds like some kind of transient problem; we're certainly alive.

Use "newuser" as the login, and you won't be asked for a password.  Just
follow the prompts after that to set the account up.

        And harden your heart

(for the record, you have to use "newuser" at the m-net login, of course, and
not at the wwnet dialin login)

Warren is no longer area code 810, I think it is 586.  Probably the same for
other Detroit suburbs in that vicinity.
Ken, thanks for the list, it has been handy several times.  I wish ALL
mnetters were as helpful as you are.

I thought Oakland county was area code 248?

Warren is in Macomb county.  Most of Macomb county is in the new 586 area 
code.  resp:16 is correct.  Most of Oakland county is area code 248.

Huh. I didnt realize Warren was in Macomb county. I also didnt know 
they were getting a new area code. You can tell how many people *I* 
know in the eastern suburbs. 

Wow.  I didn't even know there was a 586 area code.

It's obviously a missed marketing opportunity for intel.
