buy an oil platform. live on it. hold a foreign dignitary hostage when that country's army tyries to pry you off of it. sell passports, stamps, and coins to make money. btw, the office of the u.s. geographer logs all secession claims within u.s. borders.
The guy who's doing HavenCo used to log in to M-Net. Used to be pretty active back in the late 80s.
achieve sovereignty for yourself. it's a start. then get a big boat.
It's much harder to achieve sovereignty now than it used to be. I wonder if M-Net should get a mirror site on Sealand. I bet Sean would do it for us.

Well, if you're having trouble getting to Livonia, I doubt putting mnet off the coast of Britain will help much... ;)
re 1; how do you know the geographer's office register's seccession claims? It's not like you can call up city hall and ask how you can secede. On the unlikely chance that they would take you seriously, the FBI would be on your ass in minutes.
Re #6: On the other hand, HavenCo has good security and new machines.
The staff could sail there on the M-net Yacht "Patron Fees" to make the required service calls.
I thought the _Patron Fees_ disappeared over the edge of the world?
The sea monsters coughed it up after we promised them some old motherboards and an ISDN modem.
re #7: they can be looked up.
In what?
Leviathan thanks Arbornet for the ISDN modem, btw.
I was just reading about Havenco on the internet. I hadnt realized it was such a big deal. The only thing I can say is that the whole thing is very Sean. I guess a lot of people are trying to get his sister to put them in contact with him. Very weird.
Too funny. It's not like Havenco is hard to find -- they have their own website and stuff.
I have never had any trouble getting in touch with him. In fact, sometimes I have had the opposite problem *snort* ;) Joe knows why I find this whole thing very weird. Actually, I find it totally funny although I am not sure why. I keep laughing everytime I hear about it.
I agree. It is pretty funny.
What's the untold story here?
I'm not sure what Lynne means, if there's a specific unknown story, but she used to date Sean, so she knew him quite well. He and I used to hang around a lot too. If you know him, the idea of him going off and doing something like this is just, well, too perfect. I mean, if I had to pick someone I knew as "most likely to found a data haven on an offshore artillery platform with claims to national independence," it would have been Sean hands down.
Oh yeah, Joe is totally right on about that. This whole thing is *crazy* and yet it is so in character for Sean to be involved with something like this. I just think it is funny that it is getting so much media attention.
Of course, the other thing about Sean is that, most of the time, he actually gets away with stuff. He's no idiot, and he has a lot of friends who aren't idiots either.
What was his login on M-net?
First kzinti, and then grimjack.

Yep.
hahahaha. My friend Angela (who also dated Sean) told me about the article in Wired magazine. We laughed for a good long time about certain things in that article.
Which things, out of curiosity?
