That's OK, we've turned on the Ping Pong flag on Grex also. ;)

I just got a finger response from them, I assume all is well now?

Not if my experienceof half an hour ago has been repeated often of late.
(No answer on 996-4644.)

I'm getting 1 second pings from here, but interrupting my direct
dial to mnet reports no carrier, rather than busy..

I submit there is another "oopsie".

As I write this, M-Net has been down since sometime Thursday.
Does anyone know what's wrong this time?

#7 of 22 by void on Fri Jan 31 22:30:59 1997:

it was up a short while ago, but crashed around 5 pm. i'm not sure what
the reason for yesterday's crash was. today, the load averages seemed very
high prior to the crash.

Is is dead to everyone or just non pciking up the phones again?

#9 of 22 by russ on Sat Feb 1 01:13:04 1997:

It seems to be dead completely. Out of 3 phone numbers, none are
picked up and it's also dead via Internet.

It was up sporadically yesterday and today

        now, no dice

        no clue

#11 of 22 by tonster on Sat Feb 1 20:22:05 1997:

just talked to linda and she says that it's down and can't be rebooted until
a root is contacted. Apparently it freezes at the quote script and we know
how to fix it, but can't fix it without the root password...so right now, we
wait...

Out little electronic miscreant just responded with
messages about rebuilding the file system.

        Sunday; 1427 hours..

        Tried "arbornet.org", 206.84.193.2 and 206.62.39.57 from coast..

None of them worked, so I tried the dialins... First I got the
infamous "no carrier", then it started reporting "busy".

Yeah, I'd say m-net has a few problems...

#14 of 22 by salang on Mon Mar 10 21:18:43 1997:

Still down. But, the goodnews is...they were up sometime since this morning.
My mail got forwarded to my other account sometime today. Maybe that is a
good sign...then again maybe not.

#15 of 22 by salang on Tue Mar 11 20:42:30 1997:

Still down...any guesses??

#16 of 22 by pfv on Tue Mar 11 21:35:20 1997:

yeah, I guess it's time to find a new mail-point, eh?

#17 of 22 by salang on Wed Mar 12 00:46:25 1997:

yea, I've got an account at phish.nether.net. They support pop mail. That
is how I usually check mine. But, you have to be familiar with Unix to use
it.

#19 of 22 by salang on Wed Mar 12 20:52:26 1997:

I'm not sure. Although a friend told me that m-net was up for a while last
night. If they're down for so long it better be for a nice hardware upgrade
or something worthwhile. We can only hope for the best. Hopefully our old
friend (m-net) will pull through this one...

I hear the imperial march

#21 of 22 by salang on Sat Mar 15 15:51:29 1997:

back up...but no mail! It sends fine but isn't holding or forwarding any
mail...what gives?

#22 of 22 by tsty on Wed Mar 19 10:32:12 1997:

email is being parsed *in* at a liveable & fixed rate. email going
*out* is not (and never has been( a problem.

of course, forwarding doubles the load... why not have it go directly
instead of bouncing in and out of a couple of staggering systems?
