Here is an item with the right title, that didn't go anywhere. Recycle, I say. Consider this: Tucker Electronics is selling an HP 9835A desktop computer for $495. It has 64K RAM, a 217K cartridge tape, and can be programmed in BASIC and assembly. They also list an HP 2225A ThinkJet printer for $300. These prices seem way out of line. Does anyone buy stuff like that for such prices and, if not, why is it in their catalog that way?
Maybe it's $ 4.95 ??
Uh uh. 49,500 cents. Tucker deals in mostly obsolete, reconditioned electronics. Most of it is solid-state, but pre IC. The prices mostly seem very high to me (though I did buy a HP 1707B (USM 338 Ver.) scope from them once - but for a fair price).
Well, sounds like they'd be better off donating some of that stuff to a museum... they'd get the money back through the IRS... but then I doubt that the IRS would credit them $495.00
People do buy stuff like this because for some strange reason tehy have some weird software that only runs on that particular computer. Or, it may be that they built a test stand around that computer and need to make another one or to replace the computer in the test stand they already have. That's why they can charge so much for it.
I have a 2400/9600 FAX Data modem that I want to sell. #5 35$ sound ok?
It would probably be possible to get new one (if new 2400 bps modems can still be found) for less than that. In other words, it's a biit expensive.
