Grex Micros Item 181: IBM PS2 Laptop Model CL57sx: Help needed...

I have a PS2 Laptop. Currently the comm port has an access speed of 9600. How
do I increase the  speed to match my modem? How do I get into the bios?

Have you set the communications software for over 9600?  If you can't set that
above 9600 (old software) there is a DOS MODE command that you could try to
set it with.  Are you sure the PS2 Laptop is designed to go over 9600?  The
older computers are not.  We will look it up in a book.

Do you have the Reference Disk for your laptop?

At the DOS prompt, type mode com1:19200   
and if the answer is that the computer will not support any settings over
9600, there is your problem.  If the DOS prompt is not in the path, you have
to set the path or go to the DOS directory that had the mode utility listed
as one of the files.  (I am the typist, my roommate is dictating, if this is
not clear to you - it is not to me - email us for help and send a phone
number).  My XT-clone will only send at up to 9600 bps, no matter what modem
you attach.

Yes that model on Laptop probably won't go ver 9600 there is a chip (URT???)
that limits the top transmission in older model computers like PS2s which
is 386 or 286 era CPU.
