Anyone looking > for recipe software to run on a Mac definitely needs to check this out! Let me add my squeaky voice to the clamor. Mangia is absolutely wonderful. In fact it is *better* than sliced bread -- I am happy to tear off chunks of bread, but I wouldn't want to be without Mangia. How about software for the PC? The ones I've tried seem to be more trouble than they are worth.
so how do us Mac users get ourpaws on this application. PC's are evil. My XT just told me so.
there are a couple email addresses in 0, write and ask .........
ja, i'd have a hard time getting helva into the kitchen when i'm cooking. in general, i'd rather have printed-out recipes. they're easier to move than Helva is, plus it's less distressing when they get splashed with cake batter. :) What does Mangia! mean? I know someone who lives on an island called Mangaia, but that's probably completely unrelated....
"mangia" is Italian for "eat, eat".
For the pc, try the "personal recipe manager" I found it over in SimTel files for msdos. I forget if it was under recipe or food. Very easy to use, lots of room for a variety of recipes, and even prompts if you want to print it after you read it, so you can take it right next to the stove. Not too close tho, paper can burn!

Yep, thats it!
For the PC I can recommend 'Mastercook II'. Don't know if there is a version for the Mac. Got it for $25 @ Software, Etc in A2. Comes with 1000 recipes and makes it easy to add more.
Found some very, very good software! It's inexpensive, and comprehensive. Not only can you put in recipes, but you can generate shopping lists from groups of recipes, and can generate weekly updates for perishibles if you have a set of monthly recipes. Called "Cook'n" and available at their website. You can also calculate the nutritional value of a recipe, menu, or set of menus, and easily change the number of people served. I found it useful for ordering when I was doing catering as well. Works for special diets, and nutritional data can be updated to use current USDA info if you want really accurate calculations. Helps if one person in a family is following a special diet, and the rest aren't.
Neat!
Although, upon looking at the website (cookn.com) they don't appear to be active anymore- or at least not offering this software?
Try www.dvo.com, that is where I found it.
Thanks. :)
